Jury Is Back in Anitra Pirkle Case

The jury was out for 35 minutes deliberating the fate of Brittany Barkley. Barkley was found guilty of murder in the first degree. The state is trying to get a life plus 30 year sentence for her part in the carjacking and cold blooded murder of Anitra Pirkle. The judge has ordered a pre sentence investigation before sentencing.

There is justice in Wicomico County.

Whos the judge?

This is not justice, Anitra Pirkle was stabbed 6 times and left outside in the cold to die in a field. These idiots get a climate controlled place to live and three meals a day, plus health care for the next 7-10 years. Justice would be to take all three of them out back and put a bullet through their heads or stab them each 6 times in the chest and watch them bleed out, now that's justice.

1:35 I doubt very seriously its going to be "the next 7-10 years". The sentence will be life WITHOUT parole PLUS another 25-30 years consectutive to that. These thugs will never see the light of freedom again so chill out. That's alot of time to be thinking about facing the ultimate Judge to answer for what they have done.

1:52PM, They could care less about facing the ultimate judge, they will fit right in with all their friends.

The boy might go to a climate controlled prison but those girls won't. When I worked at MCI-W there was no A/C only small fans they were allowed to get from home. When it's hot in those old buildings it is really hot and it doesn't smell so great either.

The judge was Judge D. William Simpson aka The Hanging Judge.

This is what's wrong with this country, these thugs need to be put down like a wounded dog. They do not deserve life in prison. So, we can take care of them for 30 plus years, but let grandma get sick and the new health care plan will put her lights out with the stroke of a pen. I'm starting to get it...

I agree with Anon 1:35 100 percent. It would ONLY be justice if they got the death sentence.

If the people committing these horrible crimes knew they would be put to death for murdering someone, I bet stuff like this would rarely happen. You know, like in the old days when you would get your hand cut off for stealing. Let the punishment fit the crime!!!!!!!!!!!!

All three of them should die a long painful death. We shouldn't have to take care of those scum.

You can bet your bippy if it were possible for Judge Simpson to give them the death penalty, he would not hesitate to do it. That man never played around with criminals or their lawyers in his courtroom. You play, you paid the price. We really need him back on the bench. The judges we have now are like the mayor, they leave their balls in their other pants when they leave home.

I won't comment on the sentence, but it is a dang shame that these young people found theirselves in that situation. Somewhere along the line humanity failed them.

I know your thinking that they were adults, bla, bla, bla, but where did it all begin. I doubt they woke up that morning and decided to be killers without a cause.

Throughout history there has always been people like this in our country (Bonnie&Clyde example), but what used to be a rare occurance is now common place. As parents, citizens, teachers, etc, we need to ask ourselves where we are going wrong. No one has all the answers, but I think we better start figuring it out soon, or the wild-wild-west days will start looking like a wonderful time in history.

Let's start with all the violence on television and video games that kids play with. These things are used as babysitters. Then topple that being brought up with parents that do not provide safety and nurturing. A sociopath in the making. This society needs to look at the values they have created and placed on their babies. Women farm their babies out to be raised by other's, not knowing what can go on in the environment they are in. All in order to drive fancier car and have the bigger house. What message does that send your kids people? Sometimes its better to be around your babies to instill nurturing and teach compassion than it is to flaunt your gas guzzling suv or your big diamonds~a reflection of everything that is coveted in the country. To the mothers who choose to forgo things in leui of loving their babies....I salute you. Its the hardest but most important and rewarding job you could ever have.
And to the men out there, be what a man is supposed to be, a protector and a provider.
