There was a major accident on Rt. 50 & Main Street around 6:15 AM. We don't have the condition of the people involved in the accident but it was pretty serious.
State Troopers were seen removing a lunch cooler filled with prescription drugs. The impact was so hard that it shattered the engine. Oil "exploded" from the engine compartment.
DOT is on the scene investigating as they do with all commercial vehicle accidents regardless of severity.
Rt. 50 west bound was shut down for a while but they are back to normal now.

If anyone come out of that accident alive I'd call it a Miracle. That truck is shredded
I passed the accident scene this morning on my way to work. It was unbelievable. I could see the man inside the truck moving around some. Hoping that all involved are ok.

I heard the guy survived the accident but has a BADLY broken leg and pelvis, with other injuries.
For him to have survived....well....as the song goes "Jesus Take The Wheel...." Looks like he did.

Does anybody know who is at fault? I was looking at the photos and trying to put together the accident, but I couldn't. Looks like this the driver of the Chevy went for a ride on this one. Does anybody know if the driver of the small pick-up was a younger guy-maybe 20-21? It looks very similar to my friend's younger brother's truck, but it was so mangled that I couldn't tell. I hope he came out-some folks are just plain lucky or really have God on their side!
If he had his meds wih him in a cooler possibility he could be diabetic. My sister-in-law used to take hers with her in a cooler like that, along with some orange juice.
There seem to be a lot of bad accidents at that intersection. Someone from one side or the other is always trying to beat the yellow light!
From what I understand, the pickup pulled out in front of the DT. The DT had the right of way.

The P/U Truck was heading east bound and the Dump Truck was heading west bound. The Dump Truck had the green light and the P/U Truck never stopped. It just drove through the intersection making a left hand turn onto Rt. 54 and there was absolutely no way the Dump Truck or whatever it was.
Nevertheless, there was a woman driver in the P/U Truck and a passenger named Bob who is a local mechanic, so I'm told. That's all I have right now.
There needs to be a red turn arrow installed at that intersection in both directions. I travel through that intersection every day, several times a day actually; nearly every time I see someone taking a chance to cross oncoming traffic. Taking a minute to assure yourself there is enough time to make it, can stop accidents like this from happening.
Ummmm...It doesn't look like a scramble of the paramedics is happening in the one picture with the stretcher next to the PU...and isn't that a sheet covering something in the PU? Just sayin'.

Sometimes a cell is more secure than the radio's the officers use. You don't know the reason for the cell phone usage to bash the MSP.
1:27 Could it be that the trooper on the cell was calling the loved one of one of the accident victims? Clearly we don't know. Until and unless, chill the judgments.
Annon 1:22pm, I was there for the entire time that it took the ems and rescue to do what they needed. The reason you see the stretcher was because there were 3 ambulances but only 2 patients. They did a good job getting both occupants out quickly.
Annon 1:27, Don't be so quick to pass blame. Almost ALL law enforcement officials are required to use cell phones as much as possible to reduce the amount of private information becoming public. A lot of people have scanners and can hear personal info. How would you feel in a similar situation???
Whatever! First of all no notifications are going to be made by a cell phone by a TFC, i can guarantee you that. Secondly, who cares about using the police radio, that is why it is there. The only reason he is on the phone is because every time a "SOMEWHAT INTERESTING" call goes out for MSP the duty officer immediately says "give me a 10-21" AS SOON as the trooper gets there.

Not really. One of the FEW prescription drugs requiring refrigeration is insulin for diabetics.
I was unaware of the need for coolers for diabetic supplies. Thank you for educating me.

Cooler full of meds... FYI... The cooler was just the storage case for the meds. It had nothing to do with keeping them cool. There was no ice pack or any other cooling source in there.
