TWENTY EIGHT THOUSAND DOLLARS, DOLLARS, DOLLARS, DOLLARS!

What can I say, Deputy Chief Gordy is definitely Pimping His Ride! His new Crown Vic is sitting at the Shop getting ready to have letters installed as well as an alleged $14,000.00 LED Light Package.

So just what in tar nation is the Fire Department doing with a Police Interceptor vehicle anyway? Oh, that's right, Gary Comegys already stated these are Boys with their Toys and they have to one up everyone else, especially before this Mayor gets out of Dodge.

Deputy Chief Gordy originally denied the vehicle was for him but there's no doubt in any one's mind that he will be driving in this vehicle. One way to prove it is, I now have the serial number off the vehicle and I will be checking it out at every opportunity to see if he is the one driving it. Funny thing is, he just got a new vehicle just over a year ago but like he always says, we live in a throw away society.

That being said, to ALL of the Salisbury Police Officers driving around in those beat up cruisers, I'm sorry you have to see this. I know, I know, they just got a new $14,000,000.00 Fire Palace. I know, I know, they just got more than $5,000,000.00 worth of new equipment. I really like seeing that 14 miles per gallon. There's no Highway driving in that puppy!

Clearly the Department Heads know how to get their toys for themselves and the real MEN & WOMEN who put their lives on the line come second. Makes for a great marriage, doesn't it? Honey, you have the peanut butter and jelly sandwich tonight and I'll eat the lobster. Oh, by the way, don't over cook it either!

ALL city employees fail to get justifiable raises and they havn't gotten a COLA in how long now??? Yet new vehicles for the dept. heads every year or every other year. FD employees got a 2% raise in January. Thats a slap in the face, too many it was less that 50 cents an hour. It cost more money to pay the people in finance and payroll to readjust the hourly rates than it did for all of the raises combined.

New vehicles, new equipment, new firehouse?? Take it all away!

NEW MAYOR & NEW FD ADMINISTRATION! Thats what we WANT!!

Joe - Question for you. Scenerio... your kids are in danger and that car or an old turd car is coming to help. Bet you wouldn't care about a sticker price then!

anonymous 10:09,

I'm also not worried about the 1 1/2 year old vehicle he currently has to rescue my kids either.

Everyone knows why he got this vehicle. The Mayor rewarded him because of all of his work on the new Fire Station.

You just have to wonder what really happened with that whole project?

I agree, a Police Interceptor would'nt be my first choice. Atleast he did'nt go for a Caddy Escalade; now that would have been a pimped-out ride that could one-up most any department.

This brings up another issue. Why does he even need a car? Is he never at the station? Where does he have to be on a regular basis besides the station? He is the deputy chief, not the cheif, so who is watching the station when they (See) are both gone?

The new station, the car, the trucks; I really would like to know how in the world the city officials could allow/approve such spending.

Thats a question for the new Mayor. Will you initiate an independent investigation into the spending of the Parsons administration? Their to stupid to bury the bones deep enough. Going to Florida, or going to jail. She needs to be held responsible and accountable for her administration.

10:09 AM nice scenerio lol not.. heres one for ya..what if all the emt's & firemen quit because they are getting crappy pay & raises..Then what...all we got coming to help us is a loser who cares more about taking care of his self and making sure he's riding around in a nice vehicle instead of giving the people who put there lives on the line everyday better pay. Id rather that crappy car with people who actually care about us to come than some guy whos kissing the mayors butt in a nice car anyday

All looks and no people or pay for the people they have at the FD. They have taken care of the vollies (new station, more retirement $$, new equipment, etc) The employees continue to get shit on because they have to check, clean, maintain, and drive the vollies all around town. They get told well we will get more people next budget year or we don't have funds for a pay raise... WTF how can you shit out over a million for a new ladder and a million for 2 unneeded engines yet the pay and staffing continues to get overlooked by the admin. They have/get their money and cars we continue to get screwed, they don't care about us. TIME FOR A CHANGE!!

Gary insults the firemen by calling the equipment Toys. Im not talking about the cars, Im a talking about the trucks and engines. These are tools we need to do our job. Now before you get you upset most of the firemen are happy with the equipment we have to work with.

Why do you HOMO's always have to use scare tactics and "what if's" to justify your job security and wasteful spending?

Little does anyone know that car will be mine in June because I am the boss and I get to make that decision. I can either take that one or order another police inteceptor.

You do know it's a Federal Offense to impersonate someone on the Internet? Mr. Hoppes has every right to seek Federal Support if he chooses to do so. I'd strongly suggest you cease doing so immediately.

Ok, as usual, here's my take...

As everybody said...Why a police interceptor Crown Vic? Why haven't police and fire departments looked into more fuel efficient vehicles or hybrids? Or have they already and it's really not theisable? I don't know, please enlighten me.

If I were a fire fighter, I would want a pick-up. Why the hell a crown vic? Why not a full-sized, perhaps extended cab, truck? Crown Vics are for hauling criminals and taxi driving-that's it. Trucks are for hauling apparatus (if necessary); trucks can go where, a crown vic can't; trucks can yank out another stuck vehicle, the crown vic is probably the vehicle being yanked out....and so on. The point here is that if you're going to spend money, atleast get your money's worth. Get something that not just for driving around town and pimpin' the fact that you just ripped off the tax payers! Really, use trucks not cars-it only makes sense!!

Go by a firehouse during a call...nothing but pick-ups sitting in the fire house parking lot-this leads me to the conclusion that REAL firefighters drive trucks! Thus I can deduct that any of these pansy asses (Joe, can I say asses still since I'm refering to Gordy?) driving around in a crown vic aren't REAL firefighters...

I think Hell has a special place right next to Satan for our city's crooks!

Ok Joe simple question. What kind of vehicle would you have them drive. We need a solution, so throw out what you think they should drive

They didn't pay 28,000 for it, you can find them much lower, and I hope htey bought it on the state buying program. probably around 20,000. Remember the LED's will last about 20 years, about 5 to 6 cars.
