On February 3, 2009 at approximately 1:34 pm, Officers of the Salisbury Police Department received a call to respond to the Food Lion Store on Nanticoke Road for the report of a shoplifter. Upon arrival the officers were advised by store personnel that the below listed suspect had been observed taking meat from the store without making payment. The suspect was located a short distance away, and the store’s property was recovered.
ARRESTED: Melvin Eugene Riley, 45 years of age Salisbury, Maryland
CHARGES: Theft (under $ 100)
DISPOSITION: Released to Central Booking CC # 200900003705
On February 3, 2009 at approximately 3:27 pm, Officers of the Salisbury Police Department received a call to respond to the Food Lion Store on Nanticoke Road for the report of two (2) shoplifters. Upon arrival the officers were advised by store personnel that the below listed suspects had been observed taking seafood from the store without making payment. The suspects were stopped, and the property was recovered.
ARRESTED #1: John Amos Parsons, 29 years of age Salisbury, Maryland
CHARGES: Theft (under $100)
ARRESTED #2: Fred Jibini Olalo, 32 years of age Salisbury, Maryland
CHARGES: Theft (under $ 100)
DISPOSITION: Both released to Central Booking CC # 200900003718
On February 2, 2009 at approximately 4:10 pm, Officers of the Salisbury Police Department received a call to respond to the area of Sam’s Club on North Salisbury Boulevard for the report of a shoplifter. Upon arrival the officers met with store personnel who advised that the below listed suspect had been observed taking electronic property from the Sam’s Club Store on two (2) occasions without making payment. The officers apprehended the suspect near the store and were able to recover a portion of the stolen property.
ARRESTED: Robert Lee Brittingham, 35 years of age Salisbury, Maryland
CHARGES: Theft (over $ 500)
DISPOSITION: Released to Central Booking CC # 200900003596

i would expect that with the way the economy has been, we will see alot of "food" lifters in the news for quite some time to come.
It doesn't matter that the stolen food was recovered-it can not be resold.The loss is passed on to the honest shopper.

How does one get past the HI-LITER employee at the exit door of Sam's Club...I hate them even more now...Seems my receipt always disappears just as we meet.
The crooks probably slip by when someone like me creates a scene having to produce a receipt ten yards away from where I paid for it just moments earlier.
