Princess Anne Dogs Killed Yesterday

"Our dogs were killed by Somerset County yesterday."

I would appear that this Dog Catcher had a bone to pick with this Family and rather than quarantining the animals, they killed them instead. No time for a lawyer, no time for a Judge, what are you going to do, right?

To the Family who lost their Dogs, we're sorry for your losses. I will make contact with the proper authorities at this point and I will personally dig into this and get to the bottom of it. Mind you, there's a good chance there's a long history behind these dogs and the law. However, it's only fair I check out both sides, because I will NOT be a happy camper if this was treated underhandedly.

GO HERE to see our story from yesterday on this issue.

This seems to be a recurring event on the lower shore, the people in charge of animal control seizing and destroying other citizens property without due process.
It's a shame that they are allowed to get away with it.
We are the ones who keep electing those who allow this, though.

Before Henderson was removed as warden at the detention center, his philosophy was that he could do what he wanted, because he was the warden and he could. I am sure that this is the case in this instance. He's the head of dog control, so he can do what he wants. When is that county going to realize what a liability this man is to them. I read that he is still under federal investigation for the atrocities that he committed at the detention center.
What is he still doing working for the county?

I thought about leaving a comment yesterday and I didn't. But I have had trouble with the sonerset county animal control. And I know that I was in the wrong (I let my two dogs out to do their busness) we lived in the country and next door are chickens, well they took off chasing the chickens, I called for them but they were gone. I went in side to get shoes on and go out to look for them. I did find them. When I came home from work I had a note on my door letting me know that they had been to my house looking for my dogs. It was about 6:00PM and I desided to wait till I got to work the next day to call. When I did call they informed me that they had just left my house again and they had my dogs, and that I had to pay a fine to them back. I got off work early to go and get my two dogs from the Somerset county animal shelted. I was tring to get my pets back before my girls got home from school and found out they were gone. But that was not happening when I got their to pick them up they asked me for their shot records. I was like what? You didn't tell me that on the phone you said I need to pay the fine. This did not set well with me becuase I know that I could not get home and bring the shot records to them before they closed. They would not even let me see my pets. At this time now that I have alittle atitude, the lady that was their starts to inform me that one of my dogs had bitten someone, but they were not pressing charges. This to me sounded alittle fishy. So I leave without my pets and not even being able to see them. I get home to figure out that their shots expired three week ago. I knew then that I was going to really pay now. The next day I call work tell them I'll be in late I go to get my pet, when I get thier I recieve a new fine (I knew I would because of the shots) But I also had to pay for them to be in that naste place!! (I have alwas gone to the wicomico county animal shelter and it has never looked and smelled like that place, even when they were in the old building.) But what really got me the most was that lady who tryed to make me feel as if I were a bad person. She threatened to take my dogs the next time and said I would not get them back if she found them running again(she never caught them in the first place she came to my house and removed them from the chain ) then she asks if I have had them spade, I told her no that they had papers and I may breed them. She lets me know that I can not breed them with out filling out a form for them. Also if they pick my dogs up and they are in heat they will not return then to me (just to make sure I was hearing her right I asked her "untill they come out of heat" no she said for ever!! Now ontop of all this I have yet seen my pets, and I have been told that I have to take then down the road to a local vet and get them there shots updated(had no problem doing this) they bring my pets out and I can tell that they are scared but oh my god the smell of them was beond me I drive a mercedes and I really didn't want them in my car(they ride all the time) but not only that I had to stop at the local vet I was embarrassed to take my pet in their. I did question thier actions but I move out of the county so I dropped the issue.

Somerset must be the most corrupt county on the eastern shore. Everyone needs to be replaced. When Henderson was going to be questioned by police regarding the detention center investigation, Kristy Hickman personally picked him up and took him there. How does that look? She is the one who originally requested the investigation but it appears as if she was providing him legal counsel throughout the whole ordeal. Henderson is just an embarrassment to the county along with the other morons who run it and represent it.

With Henderson at the helm of dog control I can assure everyone that his department will continuously be under scrutiny. Any decision made by him should be carefully examined. New administrator Boston should take whatever action that is appropriate to remove this man from his position. Henderson doesn't treat humans with any dignity or respect so how can he treat a dog humanely?

I feel very sorry for 12:54. You are lucky that you moved out of this county. Politics and friendship rule here. It starts at the top and rolls downhill. I agree that Henderson is the main problem at dog control. The folks that work there just follow there leader. Rules and laws do not matter to them, if it's OK with the boss then it is OK to do.

Unless the dogs attacked someone or were critically ill, nobody has the right to have them destroyed.I think people are irresponsible to let their dogs run free but they still have rights.

You know what I like about this
site when it comes to situations
such as this? There will be
"action taken"!! Thank you Joe!

If these statements are true, this
man cannot be gotton out of there
fast enough. Make it hot on those
dam polititions. They need some-
one to ride their shirt tails. Not
just in Somerset Cty. , Wicomico
as well. All they want is the
power & control that comes with
their jobs. Think they really
care about animals, better think
again if you do.

If you don't , it's going to
keep growing & growing. Contact
your representatives also!! Let
TV stations know what you're
doing, Keep It Going, Don't Let
It Die, get the TV stations to
interview these people to see
exactly what they are doing to
bring about change if , in fact
this story holds true.

These dogs attacked numerous people, including elderly women...yes WOMEN!!! and a child. The owners were repeatedly warned and the assaults continued. They would gang up on thier victims. I live near the family and did NOT feel safe when these dogs would run loose. (there is a leash ordinance in town)

There has certainly been more than one incident. Many complaints have been made about Henderson to the administrator. There is a time when certain dogs have to be put down. That is not questioned, but the problem is, Henderson has such a horrible reputation with torture and abuse of humans at the detention center, any action that he will ever take at dog control will be called into question. The commissioners should have realized that when they hired him. Oh, I forgot, it's Somerset. They hire for political reasons, not the best man for the job.
