TIM CHANEY’S WEBSITE IS UP

My name is Tim Chaney. Born in Baltimore in 1957, my family moved to Salisbury in 1969, and I graduated from Wicomico Senior High School in 1976. Today, I'm a kitchen supervisor ensuring the elderly residents of a local care facility eat healthy meals. Hobbies include my two Labrador Retrievers, playing guitar, fishing, and searching for Native American artifacts and fossils along our shorelines.

For the past three years, I've been a "regular" at City Council meetings, speaking up about things that matter to folks like us in District 1. I helped start the President Streets Neighborhood Association and serve as its treasurer.

I'm just a resident like you who knows what it means to work for a living, struggle against hard times, and want something better for our children's future. Our district has people of many colors and backgrounds. I think that's one of its strengths.

Martin Luther King, Jr. dreamed of a day when his children would "not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character".

In the coming weeks. I hope you'll come to know the content of my character as someone who will work every day as your council member to see a better District One for all of us.

You're one of the very few District One residents who consistently comes out for Council meetings. Your attendance record there may actually exceed Shanie's, and absolutely exceeds that of the other candidates (which you could have done with just two appearances). And you certainly do have more relevant things to say than Shanie does, and with a much better command of the language. (Joe, can you run that bit of tape with Shanie saying that funny made up word?)
As for your commitment to the neighborhood and to the community in general, you outshine the current councilperson and the other candidates hands down.
You're a great pick. I know you'll do well in representing the First District.

Anybody but "Shameless" -- but Mr. Chaney is my candidate of choice.

He's a good man -- for District 1 and the entire City of Salisbury.

It takes a lot of courage to run for any office today, politics being what it is. It takes a lot of courage to stand up at council meetings, ask questions and try to improve things that other people want to ignore. Tim Chaney, through his consistent presence and comments at City Council meetings, plus his work in his community exhibits a level of courage and decency that is rare in politics. I sent him a contribution and I don't even live in his district. I just believe in supporting good, honest people for public office. We need more Tim Chaneys.

anonymous 1:07,

I agree but I also disagree. Allow me to explain.

Because of Barrie Tilghman, you're absolutely correct. Many have run scared and quality candidates were hand picked like Louise Smith, Mike Dunn, Lynn Cathcart, can I get an AMEN?

Once these people are gone, the tide will turn and courage won't be necessary, unless you're a liar and a cheat, none of which Tim Chaney represents.

This is an honorable man with absolutely NO SPECIAL INTERESTS. He'd make a fantastic City Council Representative and do a whole lot more with his District than Shanie ever did in all of her 4 years. Tim is doing this for the love of Salisbury and his community. Shanie is doing it for a paycheck and she doesn't want to lose that cush income. Is that what the taxpayers want, a council person who says yes with the majority all the time, even though it doesn't support your district, so she kan secure her job?

Tim would walk off the Council before he ever dreamed of doing such a thing, wouldn't you Tim?

I am PROUD and HONORED to call Tim Chaney a Friend. They don't get any better. Well, looks are another subject. Just kidding Tim! LOL

I bet Tim will win with one - tenth of the money Shanie get's from special interest.

People know what they are getting and it's not what they want.

Between my wife and I we've both worked with him for over 12 years. He of all people knows his own faults, none of which are lying and stealing. He's among the most honest persons that we've ever met.

I was lucky and sold my house across from the Hearne annexation before it's conception. I know Tim wouldn't have voted for that. I'm out of the reach of annexation now but we'd vote for him if we could.

1:19-

I concur on your support of Mr. Chaney, but there is a major flaw in your preamble -- unless Comegys is kept out as mayor, there will be no change.

Barrie = Gary = Scary!

Fortunately, Bob Caldwell is running for mayor -- please support him and be sure to see his website:

Tim Chaney has been at council meetings, he has been out there in his neighborhood for years, he has been part of the conversations about improvements in Salsibury for many years, he has been begged by his friends, neighbors and concerned citizens to run for office from his district, not just for the people of his district, but for the people of Salisbury and ultimately the people of Wicomico county. He has always shown us he cares, he has been there and walked the walk and talked the talk, I would say that makes him very very well qualified to sit in that council seat, he already represents his community, he is a good man, and a good citizen. I am delighted he decided to take his work one step further, we all will benefit.

Think about it, Please Vote in the primary.

I met Tim back in the mid 80's when he worked at The Steamer in West Ocean City. Since then we've both moved to Salisbury and I'm proud to say I know him. I must post anonymous as I work for the city but you know who this is don't ya Tim :-)

Tim loves this country AND this city and I can think of no other that I would rather see in Shanie's chair at council meetings. He'll do everything possible to improve this city and get it out of the gutter.

And he won't be spittin candy out of his mouth when he's talking in the meetings...gonna miss ya Shanie; yer the best show on tv woman...LMAO

Tim has also stood before the council speaking up about the firemen getting stiffed and the need for better pay and more police officers. I think he has more than one friend working for the city.

Tim is the one who has to win, to usurp shamie. Even if fary loses his mayoral bid, he'll still be on council and the majority will remain unchanged.

Way to go Tim!! Tim is advocate for all things just. He worked for me for a few years and is a very honest and great guy. I believe he can get get people to think more about the goals of our community instead of this Political Stalemate BS we always find ourselves in. There are many simple solutions to these problems. Tim has my vote even though I can't in Salisbury. Cheers Tim! Tom Knorr, Southern Boys Concepts
