There’s a simple explanation for Barrie’s irate overreaction to the post and pictures about Salisbury’s open air prostitution parlor that she has said does not exist. It could be the death of her effort to have Salisbury designated an “all American city” as the capstone of her tenure as mayor. It’s now an open secret that she would not be reelected if she ran again next year, but that’s not going to happen. Bubba Comegys has let that cat out of the bag when he disclosed that he will be running for mayor.
It would be an insult to the public if the group that selects the all American cities would somehow choose Salisbury in light of the many serious problems and deficiencies that have occurred since Barrie became mayor 10 years ago. And if that happened, Comegys would surely claim the credit in his campaign for mayor.
Let’s make sure that doesn’t happen by notifying the selection group of the real situation in Salisbury, so that the application (which will be a work of fiction) won’t deceive the judges. you don’t have time to write a letter or note, just send a post or comment from this blog – like the one on the City’s prostitution hotspot or the one about the adult book store a short distance away that Barrie and Bubba said they were going to close down – several years ago.
Start early and "vote" often. If we get lucky, maybe the judges will inform the City in advance that it should save time and money by forgetting about the all American city contest for at least several years after electing a really good mayor.

The All American City designation is available to any community who can complete the application and mail in a check.
How do you think Pocomoke got it?
The whole thing is a way to scam municipalities out of tax dollars and the designation is meaningless.
I sent in my sentiments. Here's part of it: "I cannot ethically stand by to see Salisbury put forth as an All American City when, upon examination, it is absolutely not of that calibre. It would discredit your organization to consider Salisbury for this award without in-depth review of the true dire situation in our City.
Believe me, it gives me no joy to have to say this about the City I love, but to award it this honor under the current conditions would be disingenuous"
But if Salisbury gets selected, you can bet that the Daily Times will use that to annoint Bubba Comegys to be "R Necks Mare".

My husband on the way to work in the morning at 4:30 said the same people are 'hanging out' by the motel and the gas station. It's sad when everyone else can see it! Keep it up Joe!
Has anyone other than me noticed that huge billboard on Rt 50 touting Salisbury as a 3 time winner of a Best Place for Young People award. I'd love to see the lies told in that application. What exactly does Salisbury offer young people? A chance to be mugged at the Salisbury Festival? An opportunity to be approached by drug dealers at the mall? A good chance of being accosted by gang members at school? Yeah, these are all good reasons to be chosen as one of Americas best places for young people.
