Sen. John Kennedy (R., La.) assailed Senate Democrats for stalling a coronavirus stimulus bill on Monday, saying they had decided to "double down on stupid."
"You know what the American people are wondering right now, Mr. President? They're thinking, ‘This country was founded by geniuses, but it's being run by a bunch of idiots,'" Kennedy said on the Senate floor. "You know what the American people are thinking right now, Mr. President? They're thinking, ‘Why do the members of the United States Senate continue to double down on stupid?'"
Senate Democrats have blocked two votes this week to advance the emergency relief bill, calling it a corporate bailout with insufficient measures for workers.

A Viewer Writes....Shots Fired In Salisbury
Since I didn't see anything anywhere I thought you would like to know. I just heard a bunch of shots from afar that sounded like a shoot out. One of my employees has a scanner so I told him to see what was going on. Shoot out at a West Rd apartment complex. Possible 20+ shots fired. Dark SUV and someone may have been firing out of an apartment window. Supposedly the vehicle matches description from a shooting last night.

Schumer taking credit for GOP or bipartisan ideas
Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer on Wednesday touted a number of concessions Democrats won in the $2 trillion economic rescue package by holding out, including more unemployment insurance, more money for hospitals and additional oversight of where loans for corporations would go.
Mr. Schumer said in a letter to his Democratic colleagues that their unity “strengthened their hand” and that the public is benefiting “from Senate Democrats’ resolve in fighting to put workers first.”
Not so fast, according to Republicans, who say Mr. Schumer is taking credit for provisions that were GOP ideas or received little opposition.
“To sum up, Senator Schumer delayed lifesaving aid to medical professionals and significant relief for families and small businesses in order to claim credit for wins that are either bipartisan or Republican ideas,” said a senior GOP aide.

HOW to Make China Pay for Coronavirus Cover-Up
With the need to hold the People’s Republic of China accountable for the coronavirus cover-up that cost American lives, there is one question we need to answer: How? The good news is that there is a cornucopia of options, some of which were already being pursued. They just need to be accelerated.
One big item, which President Donald Trump has already been pursuing, is to create supply chains that are not dependent on China. The coronavirus pandemic will accelerate that trend, and that will be very helpful on multiple fronts — job creation and lower strategic vulnerability among them. But this is not all we can do.
Beijing needs more than just a hit in the pocketbook — it needs to be diminished on the world stage and humiliated over the cover-up. Beijing lied, people died, and its communist leaders are playing the race card to suppress criticism in the United States. That cannot be permitted to stand.
Part of that effort might be the bicameral legislation introduced by Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) and Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY). “There is no doubt that China’s unconscionable decision to orchestrate an elaborate coverup of the wide-ranging and deadly implications of coronavirus led to the death of thousands of people, including hundreds of Americans and climbing,” Stefanik said. “This Resolution calls for China to provide compensation for the harm, loss, and destruction their arrogance brought upon the rest of the world. Simply put -- China must, and will, be held accountable.”

Obama’s China Ambassador Praises Chinese Response to Virus
Former president Barack Obama's China ambassador Max Baucus, who established extensive business ties with China after leaving the ambassadorship in 2017, extolled China's government on Tuesday for the way the country has responded to the coronavirus outbreak.
"I think that the big lesson here [is] that when you take charge and when you tell the entire country, Wuhan, other provinces what to do, they get in gear and get the job done," Baucus said during an interview on MSNBC. "I take my hat off to China for doing so."
The former Montana senator's praise of China comes amid a propaganda campaign waged by China's state-run media outlets, which have been pushing the narrative that China isn't responsible for the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Gaetz: Block Bailouts to Companies Controlled by China
Tuesday, Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) argued that given the origin of the coronavirus was of Mainland China, and allegedly could have been thwarted by the communist Chinese government had they been more transparent, any federal dollars allocated for bailout purposes should not go to any company controlled by the Chinese government.
The Florida Republican congressman noted companies controlled by the Chinese and touted his legislation that would stop from money from going to companies such as those.
“Radisson Hotels, AMC movie theaters, even the Waldorf Astoria in New York are controlled by China, in essence, and I think we ought to restore every American worker and American small business before borrowing money from China so that we can then give it to China to then pay China back with interest after the Chinese virus,” he said. “That seems like a foolish thing that a great nation would never do. I’ve introduced legislation to block bailouts to corporations that are controlled by China. It’s so obvious I can’t even believe it’s not the law already.

Trump’s Daily Briefings Are Getting Huge Ratings — And Leftists Hate Them
The ratings for President Trump’s daily briefing are soaring, and leftists are getting apoplectic.
The New York Times reluctantly admitted on Wednesday that the president’s daily coronavirus updates are garnering an average audience of 8.5 million on cable news, adding, “roughly the viewership of the season finale of ‘The Bachelor.’”
Then, of course, the attack on Trump while acknowledging he’s reaching a tremendous audience: “And the audience is expanding even as Mr. Trump has repeatedly delivered information that doctors and public health officials have called ill informed, misleading or downright wrong.”
The Times quoted uber-left MSNBC commentator Rachel Maddow stating, “I would stop putting those briefings on live TV — not out of spite, but because it’s misinformation,” as well as former ABC anchor Ted Koppel sniping, “Training a camera on a live event, and just letting it play out, is technology, not journalism; journalism requires editing and context.

Hospitals consider universal do-not-resuscitate orders for coronavirus patients
Worry that ‘all hands’ responses may expose doctors and nurses to infection prompts debate about prioritizing the survival of the many over the one
Hospitals on the front lines of the pandemic are engaged in a heated private debate over a calculation few have encountered in their lifetimes — how to weigh the “save at all costs” approach to resuscitating a dying patient against the real danger of exposing doctors and nurses to the contagion of coronavirus.
The conversations are driven by the realization that the risk to staff amid dwindling stores of protective equipment — such as masks, gowns and gloves — may be too great to justify the conventional response when a patient “codes,” and their heart or breathing stops.
Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago has been discussing a do-not-resuscitate policy for infected patients, regardless of the wishes of the patient or their family members — a wrenching decision to prioritize the lives of the many over the one.

Walmart Coronavirus ‘Licker’ Arrested, Charged With Terrorist Threat
A 26-year-old man’s coronavirus-themed social media video, where he filmed himself licking various deodorants in a Virginia Walmart, has landed him an arrest and a charge of terrorist threat.
In the video that was taped on March 11, Cody Lee Pfister asks viewers, “Who’s scared of coronavirus?” before licking deodorant sticks out for purchase.
Pfister was charged by the Warren County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office with a terrorist threat in the second degree, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Cuomo's Prison Workers Say They're Not Actually Making Hand Sanitizer
Inmates told VICE that they're really just putting a mysterious vendor's existing product in 'NYS Clean' bottles.
On March 9, New York governor Andrew Cuomo announced a measure to fight “egregious” price-gouging: an initiative to produce 100,000 gallons of New York State-produced hand sanitizer every week, to be distributed for free to needy institutions like schools, government agencies, prisons, and the MTA.
“We are problem solvers, state of New York, Empire State, progressive capital of the nation,” Cuomo said during a press conference, before opening a navy curtain and literally unveiling jugs of the “NYS Clean”-branded sanitizer, “made conveniently by the state of New York.”
But according to workers at Great Meadow Correctional Facility in Comstock, New York where the hand sanitizer is being “made,” as well as a spokesperson for the prison system, they are doing nothing more than taking existing hand sanitizer and rebottling it into packaging labeled NYS Clean.

Maryland Reports 157 New COVID-19 Cases; Now More Than 1,200 Confirmed Cases In National Capital Region
“We have never faced anything like this ever before, and I continue to urge the people of our state to stay in place at home and stay safe.”
ANNAPOLIS, MD — The State of Maryland now has 580 confirmed cases of COVID-19—an increase of 157 new cases, which is by far the largest one-day increase to date. There are more than 1,200 confirmed cases in the National Capital Region—in Maryland, Washington, D.C., and Virginia. The number of cases
Governor Larry Hogan today issued the following statement:
“We are only at the beginning of this crisis, in our state, in the National Capital Region, and in America. As I have repeatedly stressed, we should continue to expect the number of cases to dramatically and rapidly rise.
“Today, we are also seeing an unprecedented increase in the number of Marylanders filing for unemployment. We are going to do everything we can to help people and small businesses get back on their feet.
“This battle is going to be much harder, take much longer, and be much worse than almost anyone comprehends. We have never faced anything like this ever before, and I continue to urge the people of our state to stay in place at home and stay safe.

Hillary Clinton’s Emergency Plea to the Appellate Court
As our viewers already know, Hillary Clinton “was ordered deposed in a Judicial Watch FOIA case seeking the Benghazi talking points, the case that exposed the Clinton email scandal,” Fitton states. However, in resisting her court-ordered testimony before Judicial Watch attorneys, Clinton filed a mandamus petition two weeks ago, a motion akin to “suing the lower court by getting the appellate court involved to stop the court from doing something ‘improper’.”
Her “desperate attempt” to avoid in-depth questioning by Judicial Watch attorneys was ‘justified’ by her lawyers as the upholding of an “indisputable right” to not appear in court for her May 16th testimony. According to Fitton, her lawyers’ petition practically states that “she’s too important to have to testify to us [Judicial Watch].”
“Shes desperate to stop this questioning by Judicial Watch because no one has asked her questions like this before,” Fitton continues. “I encourage you to read the court order,” Fitton states, “you’ll understand why she’s desperate to avoid questioning by our top-flight attorneys.”
“We know what the issues are, and the court wants specific questions answered, but now she’s seeking this extraordinary emergency intervention to stop us.”
“So my question is: what is the Justice Department going to do about all this?”

State-Backed Chinese Hackers Launched Massive Campaign Against U.S. In Early 2020, Report Says
According to a top security firm, in early 2020 state-backed Chinese hackers conducted one of the largest espionage campaigns in recent years, targeting telecommunications, healthcare, government, defense, finance, petrochemical, manufacturing, and transportation organizations in the United states and around the world.
Referring to the hackers as APT41, Christopher Glyer, Dan Perez,Sarah Jones, and Steve Miller of FireEye stated, “This activity is one of the most widespread campaigns we have seen from China-nexus espionage actors in recent years.
The Trump administration is well-aware of China’s maleficent cyber-activities; in December, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein warned, “China stands accused of engaging in criminal activity that victimizes individuals and companies in the United States, violates our laws, and departs from international norms of responsible state behavior.”

Airline Set to Give Massive Pay Hikes as Taxpayer Bailout Advances
As the airline industry is poised to receive billions in federal handouts amid the coronavirus pandemic, union members working for American Airlines will vote Thursday to approve a new collective bargaining agreement that includes immediate pay hikes and a $6,000 signing bonus.
Top airlines in March asked congressional leaders for $29 billion in handouts, warning of "draconian measures such as furloughs" caused by the outbreak. But behind the scenes, American Airlines moved forward with an expensive new agreement. A union guide on the deal obtained by the Washington Free Beacon lists immediate pay raises of up to 18 percent, a bonus of up to $6,000 for all members, and increased vacation time. As members geared up for the Thursday vote, Congress reached a deal on a stimulus bill that would include $25 billion in subsidies to industry giants, including American Airlines.

American Spirit Shines Amid Coronavirus Crisis
The American people are, in the words of President Donald Trump, “one big beautiful American family.” How true that is. Like family we get along with some more than others. We disagree on things, often loudly and vehemently. We argue and fight, laugh, cry, and love.
Yet no family in the world sets aside differences and strengthens each other in times of crisis more than the American people. Whether it be the aftermath of the radical Islamist terrorist attacks of 9/11, the surprise Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, a massive outbreak of tornadoes in the Midwest, or flooding following Hurricane Katrina, we come together to rescue our neighbor, comfort them, and help them put their lives back together.
And we do it spontaneously, without command or instruction. We see a need, and we rise to meet it; family helping family, neighbor helping neighbor. It is the epitome of the American spirit, a spirit unlike anywhere else in the world.
We saw it in 2016 with the Cajun Navy, an ad-hoc group of volunteers who hitched their boats to their trucks and drove toward Hurricane Katrina as it bore down on Louisiana. These heroes saved thousands of lives, plucking them from the raging waters that engulfed their homes. These same volunteers rescued thousands more following Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, Florence, and Michael.

Coronavirus Stimulus Checks: Here's Who's Eligible For Relief Payment
If all the alarming coronavirus headlines have your anxiety at an all-time high, here’s some good news: A highly anticipated stimulus package meant to provide financial relief to consumers and businesses struggling in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic is ready to be set in motion.
Though the details of the plan have yet to be finalized and voted on, Congress has essentially agreed on the major provisions. The CARES Act, which lawmakers spent the past several days hashing out, includes a historic $2 trillion in relief funds.
But the big question on most people’s minds is whether they qualify for a cut of the money. Here’s a look at the plan, who qualifies and when you can expect to get paid.
Do I qualify for a coronavirus relief check?
The amount of money you may receive as part of this stimulus package is based on your adjusted gross income. If you already filed your federal taxes for 2019 (the deadline was extended to July 15), eligibility will be based on your AGI from that tax return. If you haven’t filed yet, the IRS will rely on information from your 2018 return or the Social Security Administration to determine eligibility.
Here’s the bad news: Not everyone will qualify for a relief check.
The maximum amount you can receive is $1,200, or if married filing jointly, $2,400 per couple. That amount phases out for single filers with an AGI between $75,000 and $99,000, joint filers with an AGI between $150,000 and $198,000 and heads of household with an AGI between $112,500 and $146,500.

Governor Hogan Demands Anyone Coming To Our State Quarantine For 14 Days
Here's what I can tell you about his demand. I have a neighbor from Pennsylvania who comes to his 2nd home every single weekend with their family. On Sunday evening they head back to PA. Catch Me If You Can. They're not here long enough to quarantine for 14 days.
I spoke to another friend of mine yesterday who lives in one of those waterfront townhouses on the water in the Riddle Farm. He told me that they are the only ones living there in the winter months. However, right now their parking lots are FULL, meaning a LOT of people are coming here from out of state, (confirmed by tags on vehicles) and yet NO ONE is policing it.
While Governor Hogan may be pounding his chest with such demands, it's a load of crap. All anyone has to do is drive around in West OC and on the island and you'll see a ton of out of state tags. Heck, just pull into the WalMart parking lot in Berlin and you'll see what I mean.
The Coronavirus is here, it's being brought in by outsiders escaping their states and we can all expect the number of positive results to skyrocket over the next two weeks. I'd like to hear what law enforcement is doing to protect us.

The Families First Coronavirus Response Act is unfair for America's small businesses
Most Americans have an inherent orientation towards fair play. We don’t always get things right, but I believe, on balance, we try. So, for example, most of us would try to help the small guy (person) first rather than the person who already has a lot. We understand that the big guy often does not need as much help.
Small businesses struggle each day to make ends meet. So, when trying to remedy the fallout from the virus, I would guess that we want to help small businesses. Yet, Congress just passed the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, which turns this thinking upside down.
In the bill, companies with more than 500 employees are exempt from the requirement to provide paid leave for their employees. Employers with under 500 employees (small businesses) are required to provide paid time off for their employees who are kept away from work as a result of the current pandemic.

Neighbors say Pledge of Allegiance together to check in during State of Emergency
ANNAPOLIS, Md. —On a cul de sac in a quiet Annapolis neighborhood, something has recently become a morning routine.
"I needed these kids to have a normalcy and I needed it," said Danielle Lawrance.
Lawrance and her daughters Olivia and Emilia walk to the end of their driveway to meet their neighbors and say some familiar words. Reciting the Pledge of Allegiance may have started as a way to keep a little familiarity for the kids, but it didn't take long for the whole cul de sac to join in.
"It just warms our heart. We're a military family and we consider these people are shipmates, which is a very endearing term in the Navy," said Kathie Morrison.

Harris Announces Emergency Coronavirus Grants to Eastern Shore
WASHINGTON, DC: Rep. Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) announced the award of $218,217 in federal grants from the Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). Funding was provided by the Coronavirus Preparedness and Response Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2020, also known as the “Phase I” Congressional emergency legislation. HRSA-funded health centers may use the awards to address screening and testing needs, acquire medical supplies, and boost telehealth capacity in response to the Coronavirus pandemic.
Specifically, three health centers serving the Eastern Shore have been awarded funding:
- West Cecil Health Center, Inc - $61,393
- Choptank Community Health System, Inc. - $76,330
- Three Lower Counties Community Services, Inc. - $80,494
Congressman Harris made the following statement:
“As a physician and Member of Congress, I voted in favor of the Phase I Coronavirus emergency response bill, and I am pleased to see these funds support our local health centers on the Eastern Shore. These federal grants provide our local communities with immediate and flexible funding to address urgent needs. I will continue to work to ensure that the federal government’s response to this virus is effective, efficient, and targeted to provide real assistance where and when it is most needed.”
China Uses Coronavirus Crisis to Bulldoze Churches and Temples
Religious freedom watchdog groups are accusing the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) of using the Wuhan coronavirus epidemic as an opportunity to intensify their crackdown on religion, bulldozing some churches and placing others under heavy surveillance.
“China is now holding itself up as a model for fighting the coronavirus. But fighting the pandemic hasn’t stopped communist officials from persecuting Christians,” Todd Nettleton, a spokesman for the nonprofit group Voice of the Martyrs (VOM), told Fox News on Tuesday.

Here's how much money folks can expect to get from the Senate stimulus deal
Lawmakers struck a $2 trillion stimulus deal early Wednesday that includes sending checks directly to individuals amid the coronavirus crisis — but it will likely take until at least May before the money goes out.
Under the plan as it was being negotiated, single Americans would receive $1,200, married couples would get $2,400, and parents would see $500 for each child under age 17.
However, the payments would start to phase out for individuals with adjusted gross incomes of more than $75,000, and those making more than $99,000 would not qualify at all. The thresholds are doubled for couples.

My Husband Is a First Responder. COVID-19 Hits Home for the Kids and Me.
Last fall my husband was one of three firefighters to save a family from an apartment fire. All three men won an award from the county for their courage.
But my husband, who also is an emergency medical technician, won’t be stepping up to receive that award any time soon. The ceremony was canceled because of COVID-19.
I haven’t heard a peep of complaint from him, and I know I won’t. First responders don’t like to be fawned over. In fact, they often refuse even modest appreciation (unless it’s in the form of a baked good).

Man charged for allegedly yelling ‘corona,’ coughing in cop’s face
An Illinois man who was “foaming at the mouth” yelled “corona” and deliberately coughed in a Chicago cop’s face when the officer responded to a car accident, authorities allege.
Anthony Ponzi, 21, was “highly agitated” when Chicago police responded to the scene of a crash Sunday in the city’s Rogers Park section, according to an arrest report obtained by the Chicago Tribune.
Ponzi then yelled “corona, OK” and coughed directly into an officer’s face as the cop tried to check the Wilmette man for signs of impairment, police said.
The officer “immediately felt particles of saliva/breath” on his face, according to the arrest report.

Conservative, Not Liberal, Cities Are Ending the White-Black Achievement Gap in Education
A recent report by Chris Stewart has shed new light on some of the educational problems faced by black youth. The report is titled “The Secret Shame: How America’s Most Progressive Cities Betray Their Commitment to Educational Opportunity for All.”
Stewart is a self-described liberal and CEO of Brightbeam, a nonprofit network of education activists who want to hold progressive political leaders accountable.
The report asks, “So how do we explain outstandingly poor educational results for minority children in San Francisco—which also happens to be one of the wealthiest cities in the country?” “The Secret Shame” reports that progressive cities, on average, have black/white achievement gaps in math and reading that are 15 and 13 percentage points higher than in conservative cities.
For example, in San Francisco, 70% of white students are proficient in math; for black students it’s 12%—a 58-point gap. In Washington, D.C., 83% of white students scored proficient in reading compared to 23% of black students—a 60-point gap.

The Truth About the Charge That Trump ‘Eliminated’ White House Pandemic Office Before Coronavirus
A chief line of attack during the coronavirus crisis from former Obama administration officials and leading Democrats is that President Donald Trump shut down a White House office on pandemics that might have stopped COVID-19 from spreading—or at least alleviated the threat.
The attack is based on a 2018 decision by then-national security adviser John Bolton to reorganize the White House’s National Security Council.
But the top National Security Council official at the time of the change stressed that no office was closed.
“We consolidated three directorates into one,” Tim Morrison, former senior director for counterproliferation and biodefense on the NSC, told The Daily Signal in a phone interview. “This eliminated layers in the reporting chain and in the accountability chain.”

Chinese Ambassador Lauds Hillary Clinton’s Attack on President Trump
An ambassador from China is lauding Hillary Clinton’s recent attack on President Trump.
“The president is turning to racist rhetoric to distract from his failures to take the coronavirus seriously early on, make tests widely available, and adequately prepare the country for a period of crisis,” Clinton wrote on Twitter on Wednesday.
“Don’t fall for it. Don’t let your friends and family fall for it.”
That prompted a response from a representative of the communist regime, the Chinese ambassador to South Africa, Lin Songtian.
“It is true,” Lin wrote regarding Clinton’s attack that Trump calling coronavirus a “Chinese virus” is “racist rhetoric.”
“Justice always speak [sic] loudly.”

Helpful Tips and Websites for Parents Schooling at Home
Parents throughout America may be struggling to find ways to encourage their children’s learning while working from home themselves during the coronavirus crisis.
Many school districts are ill-equipped to conduct full online learning, but, despite the situation, parents can meet the challenge of providing educational experiences for their children of any age and may find it to be a very rewarding opportunity at that.
First and foremost, parents can de-stress immediately with the knowledge they do not need to replicate school at home. Remember that schools must provide services to many children at once, and now you can devote time to your children alone.
Ty Salvant, a veteran homeschooler with six children and founder of Louisiana’s NOLA Homeschoolers, emphasized to Fox 8 that parents don’t need to provide six to eight hours of instructional time daily for their children.
“One of the tips I give to families of elementary age and younger students is that two hours of instruction is enough, and it doesn’t have to be consecutive,” Salvant said, adding that four hours is appropriate for high school-age children.

Nurse: Sickest Coronavirus Patients Have Red Eyes
Chelsey Earnest, a veteran registered nurse who cared for coronavirus patients at a Kirkland, Washington, nursing home — which was hit hard by the outbreak — said the sickest ones all seemed to have red eyes.
"It's something that I witnessed in all of them (the patients)," she told CNN. "They have, like ... allergy eyes. The white part of the eye is not red. It's more like they have red eye shadow on the outside of their eyes."
The news network said for Earnest and her colleagues at the Life Care Center and admitting doctors at a nearby hospital, the red eyes had become the sign the coronavirus had struck.
"We've had [nursing home] patients that just had the red eyes as the only symptom that we saw and go to the hospital and pass away," she said.

Exodus to Florida: Gov Desantis says anyone entering the state must be quarantined for 14 days after 'huge amount' of New Yorkers and New Jersey residents fled the states amid coronavirus outbreak
Florida's Governor Ron Desantis announced that he will require coronavirus testing of all air travelers arriving in his state from the New York City region after a 'huge amount' of people, who were given stay at home orders, began showing up in his state.
Desantis, speaking at a news conference on Monday in Sumter County, noted that there are more than 190 direct flights from New York's airports, which includes Newark Liberty across the river in New Jersey.
He also speculated that 'every flight has someone on it that is positive for COVID-19.'

Hong Kong ‘Beat’ Coronavirus. But After Easing Restrictions Too Fast – It’s Back.
Hong Kong was a model of how to handle the novel coronavirus. But now it’s coming back.
In early March, Time magazine called the region “a lodestar for its ability to seemingly keep the disease at bay”, but the mistake of sending people back to work before the virus was truly dealt with was not far off.
In the first week of March, Hong Kong tried to return to a semblance of normality. Their cases have ticked up ever since.
The key to their initial successes was the aggressive response:
By Feb. 1, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore had all proactively implemented travel restrictions on passengers coming from the mainland, contravening the World Health Organization’s [WHO] insistence that travel bans were not necessary. The precautions came at a significant economic cost to these international hubs, which all rely on mainland China as their biggest trading partner and source of tourists.
The outright proscription of social gatherings paid huge dividends:

CDC crippled US response to coronavirus by sending hard-hit states like New York and Washington just ONE testing kit and distributing flawed diagnostics in the outbreak's early days, experts say
A series of missteps at the nation's top public health agency caused a critical shortage of tests for coronavirus, hobbling the federal response as the pandemic spread across the country like wildfire, an Associated Press review found.
President Donald Trump assured Americans earlier this month that the test developed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is 'perfect' and that 'anyone who wants a test can get a test'.
But more than two months after the first US case of COVID-19, the disease caused by the virus, was confirmed, many people still cannot get tested.
In February, as the virus began taking root in the US population, CDC data shows government labs processed 352 COVID-19 tests - an average of only a dozen per day.

Biden Accuser Turned Down By Me-Too Women’s Organization
A former staff member of Joe Biden who says he acted inappropriately toward her was turned away by a legal defense fund that spends millions of dollars supporting sexual harassment lawsuits by women.
A staff member of the organization, Time’s Up Legal Defense Fund, first encouraged the Biden accuser but then in February told her the organization can’t help her because Biden is running for president and taking him on in court might jeopardize the organization’s nonprofit status, according to a story published by The Intercept on Tuesday, March 24.
A tax law expert told The Intercept the explanation doesn’t make sense, because as long as the organization uses the same “long-established neutral criteria” it uses toward other targets in a manner “completely independent of their running for office,” the organization would not be violating tax law governing nonprofit groups.

Virus Relief Hits Pelosi's Pork in the Road
"Do Democrats even care?" It's a fair question -- and the editors at the Wall Street Journal aren't the only ones asking it. Here we are, in the middle of one of the greatest crises in American history, and Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) swooped into town to demand new curtains for the Kennedy Center. The $35 million for the performing arts hub is just one of the shockers in the House's 1,100-page virus relief counterproposal, which proves there will never be a shortage of one thing in D.C. -- pork peddlers.
Before Pelosi showed up, Americans were finally getting a good look at what the two sides can accomplish when they work together. Hours away from a Senate deal that would put real relief into families' hands, that goodwill vanished in a cloud of sleazy opportunism. "[We were] all zeroing in on what looked like... a done deal," Senator Mike Braun (R-Ind.) shook his head. "That's what disappoints me about this place," he told listeners on "Washington Watch" Monday. "We could have gotten this across the finish line," but Pelosi "wanted to commandeer the process."
Suddenly, Democrats were insisting on a whole laundry list of concessions on everything from climate change to abortion and sanctuary cities -- nothing, Braun argued, that had anything to do with saving lives or the economy. And this is all going on, he lamented, during a "bona fide effort to tamp this virus down." While the rest of the country is sitting at home, anxiously waiting for help and direction, Democratic leaders are hijacking the relief money desperately needed by hospitals, families, and small businesses. Why? Because their concern isn't helping this nation. It's advancing extremism -- no matter the cost.

10 Common-sense Solutions to the Economic Crisis Caused by China
[A parody by the Washington Free Beacon Staff ]
In this time of global crisis and economic uncertainty, both Democrats and Republicans have been seeking to exploit the China-caused pandemic in pursuit of partisan policy objectives. Shame on them!
The Washington Free Beacon, in partnership with the David Gergen Institute for Excellence in Bipartisan Ethics and Legislative Policy Solutions (DGIEBELPS), has engineered the following economic relief proposals to rescue the American economy from the ongoing Wuhan crisis. Congress should include them as part of any legislative effort to revive the economy in these perilous times.
1) Tax Cuts Now: In an effort to provide much-needed relief for struggling hedge funds and other high-frequency traders, a permanent holiday on all capital gains taxes should be implemented immediately. In addition, back-dated subsidies should be considered for all who have suffered under the inheritance tax regime since it was wrongfully re-instituted in 2011.
2) Firearms for All: In addition to (or perhaps instead of) sending checks to all Americans, the government should consider providing complimentary firearms to all citizens, particularly the most vulnerable. As our local police forces become strained in the fight against looters and other petty criminals, regular citizens must be empowered. Firearms inequality will only be exacerbated by the crisis without strong federal action. Additionally, the Centers for Disease Control should issue new guidance on proper social distancing at gun shows.

Florida Governor Orders Incoming New Yorkers to Self-Quarantine
Anyone arriving in Florida from airports in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut during the coronavirus outbreak will have to self quarantine for two weeks or risk facing criminal charges, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has declared in an executive order, CNN has reported.
DeSantis, in explaining the directive at a press conference, said “there's over 190 direct flights from the New York City area to the state of Florida, and I would reckon, given the outbreak there, that every single flight has somebody on it who's positive for Covid-19."
The Republican governor added that health and law enforcement officials will take information from every passenger arriving on flights from those states, including people who are intending to stay with family in Florida.
The executive order, issued on Monday, states that any violation would be a second degree misdemeanor that could include jail time, a fine or both.

Connecticut party of 50 guests became coronavirus 'super-spreading event,' report says
A 40th birthday bash that a Connecticut woman held earlier this month is now being eyed by health experts as a suspected coronavirus “super-spreading event” after more than half of its 50 guests later tested positive for the sickness, a report says.
The March 5 gathering at a home in the small town of Westport – which the New York Times is dubbing “Party Zero” – occurred when Connecticut had no confirmed cases of COVID-19. As of Tuesday, the state is now dealing with 415 cases, 270 of which are in Fairfield County, where Westport is located, according to statistics from Johns Hopkins University.
The Westport celebration “may be an example of the kind of thing we call a super-spreading event,” William Hanage, an associate professor of epidemiology at Harvard University, told the New York Times.

Coronavirus and clothes: How to handle laundry during pandemic
We know to practice safe social distancing and frequently wash our hands to protect ourselves and our loved ones during the coronavirus pandemic — but how about our clothes?
Though much remains unknown about the novel COVID-19 virus, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) currently states that the viral disease is most frequently transmitted from person to person via respiratory droplets, such as when an infected person coughs or sneezes within about six feet of close contacts.
CORONAVIRUS: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
After returning home from work, stores or other public places, there’s no need to change clothes entirely to fight the spread of the viral disease, former CDC Chief Medical Officer Dr. Robert Amler told Fox News.

China Virus Demands Reckoning for Beijing
The China Virus has wreaked economic havoc. It has infected tens of thousands of Americans, killing several hundred so far. This is an immense tragedy for all those affected, whether they have lost jobs, health (either temporarily or permanently), or loved ones.
Sadly, it didn’t have to happen. Despite massive dis-information efforts, evidence has emerged that the government of the People’s Republic of China engaged in a cover up that lasted weeks, if not months. Even as this evidence mounts, the Chinese Communists have spewed the despicable lie that the Wuhan coronavirus is somehow a biological weapon developed by the United States Army.
Mainstream media outlets like The New York Times, The Washington Post, and the Times of London — all of which are grossly biased against President Donald Trump — have published reports about what the Chinese Communists knew, when they knew it, and how they tried to keep that knowledge from the world. The Financial Times has some even more damning reports about how Taiwan’s warnings to the World Health Organization were ignored.
China fed the world lies and propaganda for weeks to cover up the existence of the Wuhan coronavirus, and at the very least the WHO went along. It may be more than coincidence that China backed the election of WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus in 2017. Ghebreyesus has spent the last two months downplaying the threat, while providing cover and offering fawning praise for the ChiComs.

New York coronavirus ‘curve is actually increasing,’ state may need 140K hospital beds, Cuomo warns
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo issued a sobering warning to residents on Tuesday as he said that the coronavirus curve hasn’t been “flattened,” and “is actually increasing.” He then cautioned that the apex of the virus could be as many as 14 to 21 days away.
“We projected an apex at 100,000 hospital beds needed, the new projection suggests as high as 140,000 hospital beds will be needed,” he said, adding that New York has 25,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19.
Cuomo called for ventilators to be sent to the state, as the region is dealing with 10 times more cases than New Jersey, which has the second-highest number of cases in the U.S., followed closely by Washington and California.

On Sunday, the New York Times reported:
Some of the medications are already used to treat other diseases, and repurposing them to treat Covid-19, the illness caused by the coronavirus, may be faster than trying to invent a new antiviral from scratch, the scientists said. The Trump administration has slashed red tape to distribute unapproved therapies and vaccines to patients in need faster and to identify effective drugs. Health officials have named the virus itself SARS CoV-2 and the illness caused by the virus COVID-19.
The list of drug candidates appeared in a study published on the web site bioRxiv. The researchers have submitted the paper to a journal for publication.

WHO Warns U.S. Could Become Coronavirus Epicenter as Cases Top 50,000
A WORLD HEALTH Organization official on Tuesday said that the U.S. could become the next epicenter of the coronavirus.
"We are now seeing a very large acceleration in cases in the U.S.," WHO spokeswoman Margaret Harris told reporters, according to Reuters.
She said the U.S. has the "potential" to overtake Europe as the new epicenter of the virus.
"We cannot say that is the case yet, but it does have that potential," Harris said.

Maryland confirms fourth coronavirus-related death on the same day it sees highest jump in confirmed cases
Maryland’s fourth death from the new coronavirus was confirmed Tuesday, with the announcement coming on the same day the state reported 61 new cases of the virus, its highest single-day increase.
A Prince George’s County man in his 60s who suffered from underlying health conditions was the state’s fourth coronavirus-related death, the Maryland Department of Health announced Tuesday afternoon. Three of Maryland’s four deaths were men in their 60s with underlying health conditions, with two in Prince George’s County and the other in Baltimore County. A Montgomery County woman in her 40s, who also had underlying medical conditions, was announced Saturday as Maryland’s third death.
The total number of cases statewide reached 349, a 21% increase over Monday, when Gov. Larry Hogan ordered the closure of Maryland’s nonessential businesses. The 61 new cases represent the state’s biggest one-day jump to date, said Mike Ricci, Hogan’s spokesman.

Atlanta: ICU units are at 100% capacity: Any more patients can't be treated says Atlanta mayor
The Mayor of Atlanta, Keisha Lance Bottoms, has just confirmed that all of the cities ICU units are at 100% capacity, according to CBS's Shon Gables and Senior Executive Producer Phil Landeros. Any more patients that need critical care in the ICU specifically won't be able to get it.
Less than 24 hours ago, the mayor signed a 14-day Stay at Home Order for all its residents.
"Flattening the curve" hasn't worked yet. The daily death-rate in the U.S. increased on Monday to 140, from 111 the day prior.
As we've been hearing for days now from health experts from around the world, one of the biggest disasters of the fast spread of the coronavirus is not having enough medical resources for everyone at the same time. That means - if you can't breath and you need a ventilator at a hospital - you can't get one. If that's the case, you'll have more deaths than you would have had with a slow virus growth.

White House, Senate reach late-night deal on massive $2T coronavirus stimulus package
The White House and Senate leaders reached a breakthrough deal shortly after midnight Wednesday on a massive and historic $2 trillion coronavirus relief package for workers and businesses, capping days of heated negotiations that had nearly been derailed by last-minute demands from House Democrats.
“Ladies and gentleman, we are done," White House legislative affairs director Eric Ueland announced as he left the office of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., near midnight. "We have a deal."
Ueland told reporters that "much of the work on bill text has been completed and I’m hopeful over the next few hours we’ll finish what's left and we will circulate it early in the morning.”
