Salisbury, MD ... The Wicomico County 2017 Tax Sale was held on June 13, 2017 and we are pleased to report it was a success.
The County made the decision to forego a tax sale last year, exercising an option permitted by State Law. In doing so, other choices were made to help the taxpayers with the cost of their properties being brought to sale. Advertising costs were markedly less by advertising in The Daily Record reducing this annual cost of $75,000 annually to $2,500 this year. The Daily Record was available in the Government Office Building and each municipality had them available in their offices. Those properties that were being sold were also listed on the County's website at www.wicomicocounty.org. Both the website and The Daily Record were updated weekly.
There were 76 bidders who participated in this years' tax sale which yielded 33% more participants than the average attendance over the last five years. Forty-four bidders were successful. The properties sold yielded $757,526 in back taxes. Of the $1,318.520 still owed, $800,150 is for taxes owed to the towns including expenses such as demolition and grass cutting.
Owners of properties that were sold at the Tax Sale should contact the Department of Finance at 410-548-4840 for redemption instructions. Properties that didn't sell are available over the counter beginning on June 21, 2017 until December 31, 2017. The tax sales results and available properties are listed on the County's website at www.wicomicocounty.org.

10,000 Muslims Committed To March AGAINST Terrorism – Guess How Many Showed Up
In Cologne, Germany, over the weekend, organizers had anticipated more than 10,000 Muslims would show up at an anti-terrorism rally. Not so much. ABC is touting that 1,000 showed up, but it’s ABC… after their lying over the Tea Party rallies, does anyone really believe them anymore? The point is, Muslims are just not that into protesting against Islamists killing in the name of Allah. Many, many, many support it openly or quietly. Euronews reported that several hundred showed up, which is probably closer to the truth here. And they weren’t all Muslims. Go figure.

Clock Boy Family in Court AGAIN! Their Demands are Outrageous!!!
“Clock Boy” made international headlines in 2015 after he was falsely accused of bringing a bomb to school. His family threatened to sue, but ultimately, they left the country… and now, they’ve received some bad news about their potential lawsuits.
The story of “Clock Boy” quickly went viral: a 14-year-old Muslim boy, Ahmed Mohamed, brought a homemade clock to school to show to his engineering teacher. Unfortunately, the clock resembled a bomb, and when an alarm on the clock went off in another class, the teacher confiscated it, and he was sent to the principal’s office. He was then questioned by police for over an hour, before being handcuffed, taken to a juvenile detention facility, fingerprinted, and had a mug shot taken. Only after all of this was he finally allowed to see his parents.
Irving Police Chief Larry Boyd defended these actions, saying, “It was a very suspicious device. We live in an age where you can’t take things like that to school. Of course we’ve seen across our country horrific things happen. We have to err on the side of caution.” The charges against Mohamed were eventually dropped, but he was still suspended from school for three days. The family eventually moved to Qatar, but not before he got to meet Barack Obama at the White House, participate in Google’s science fair, and be featured in Time’s “Most Influential Teens of 2015” list.

US Soldiers Wounded In Latest "Insider" Attack At Afghan Base
Several US soldiers were wounded on Saturday after being shot by an Afghan soldier at a base in northern Afghanistan on Saturday, the third “insider” attack on US troops stationed in the country this year, and the second on one week. Initially conflicting reports emerged about the number of casualties in the attack, with Afghan officials telling Reuters that four US troops had been killed; that number has since been revised.

Governor Larry Hogan Leads Delegation of Maryland Businesses to Paris Air Show
ANNAPOLIS, MD – Governor Larry Hogan is leading a delegation of eight Maryland businesses to the 52nd Paris Air Show, the world’s largest aerospace industry event. The State of Maryland will highlight a promotional booth at the weeklong show, which kicks off Monday, June 19 at Le Bourget Airport, where participating Maryland businesses will showcase their products and services. Where Exactly Is 'Safe' And Who Gets To Be 'Safe' In The World?
In the wake of recent mass shootings in the U.S., NPR's Michel Martin looks at our current political moment and ponders what it means to feel "safe."
I was thinking about how often last week I heard people talking about being safe. In part, that's a function of location. Our office is just a few blocks from the U.S. Capitol. And last week, a lot of people who work in and around politics were reeling from the shooting of the Republican lawmakers who'd been practicing for an annual charity benefit, a baseball game against the Democrats. The shooting happened in a charming neighborhood in Northern Virginia. And when I got off the elevator at work that morning, I overheard someone say, if you can't be safe there, where can you be?
Just today, earlier, I found myself with a half hour to spare so I stopped in a cafe I had wanted to check out. And when I sat down to savor my cup of whatever, I overheard a woman talking to her friend about how happy she was that her son would soon be home from a fellowship in Asia. She was saying only half-jokingly she wanted him out of striking distance of a North Korean missile. She wanted him to be safe. There's that word again - safe. Where exactly is it safe? And who gets to be safe?
One interesting detail, we were sitting on the same block where a young white man walked into a pizza shop last year and fired several rounds from a military-style rifle based on twisted Internet rumors of a child pornography ring that does not, for the millionth time, actually exist. Thankfully, he didn't kill anybody, including the real children at the restaurant that day before he was able to surrender to the police, nor was he harmed in any way.

Ten-year-old girl has arm severed by pit bull in Detroit
A ten-year-old girl had to have her arm reattached and nearly lost her foot after a dog escaped a Detroit house and mauled her while she was playing in a back yard at 1:15pm Saturday.
A neighbor, Ralphael Jackson, heard the girl's screams and ran across the road to fend it off with a shovel while the girl's aunt attempted to help and another person brought food to distract it.
'It wasn't even thinking about that food, because at this point, it smelled blood,' Jackson told Click On Detroit.
The dog was known to be aggressive and so was usually kept locked in a room upstairs when strangers were on the property, which is located on the 10700 block of Beaconsfield, Chief James Craig said.

REMINDER: 45th Annual Camp Barnes Benefit Stock Car Race
This year’s event will feature competitors throughout the Northeast Dirt Motorsports areas. Drivers will compete for prize money over $35,000. Big Block-Small Block Modifieds, Super Late Models, RUSH Crate Late Models, Crate 602 Sportsman, Modified Lites, Little Lincoln and Super Trucks will compete in over 100 laps of featured racing in their respective classes.
Gates open early at 4:00 p.m. with several activities and displays on hand, to include the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit and, in their first appearance at the race, the Delaware State Police Mounted Patrol Unit.
In addition, Camp Barnes will recognize Mr. Snookie Vent at intermission for his many years of dedication to Delaware racing. Intermission will also include a Monster Truck show, presented by “The Metal Shop” in Delmar, DE. “Saigon Shaker” will be on hand to entertain all fans.
Tickets to the event are available at the speedway’s ticket booth the night of the event. Spectator’s tickets are $20 and pit tickets are $35. Children under 10 accompanied by parent or guardian are admitted free to spectator seating.
Camp Barnes originally opened in 1948 and was named in recognition of Colonel Herbert Barnes. The camp is located next to the Assawoman Wildlife Area on Miller Creek near Bethany Beach. For six weeks in the summer, each week, 70 children ages 10-13 attend Camp Barnes with no financial burden on their parents. They participate in outdoor activities and are taught leadership and teamwork skills.

The U.S. Government Accountability Office says the FBI’s investigation was “flawed and inaccurate”. The investigation was so bogus that a senator called for an “independent review and assessment of how the FBI handled its investigation in the anthrax case.”
The head of the FBI’s anthrax investigation says the whole thing was a sham. He says that the FBI higher-ups “greatly obstructed and impeded the investigation”, that there were “politically motivated communication embargos from FBI Headquarters”.

Study: AC/DC’s ‘Highway To Hell’ More Theologically Accurate Than 96% Of Modern Worship Songs
The study examined over 800 songs and compared their theology to the Scriptures, and found that the Australian rock group’s 1979 classic was “significantly more accurate” than over 96% of them.
“While modern worship songs tend to contain little theology, an anemic view of sin, and a poor understanding of the work of the Holy Spirit, ‘Highway to Hell’ has a very biblical view of the doctrine of hell,” a CCLI rep said. “Lead singer Bon Scott had a clear understanding of man’s natural inclination toward sin and the inevitable judgment of God that follows.”

The U.S. Commission on Civil Rights says it is launching a two-year “comprehensive assessment” into the Trump administration, in light of proposed budget cuts and staff eliminations that it says will cause the civil rights of people of color, the LGBT community, and other “marginalized” groups to be at risk.
According to a press release, the commission, which was created in 1957 as an independent agency that advises Congress and the president on civil rights matters, unanimously approved the investigation.
The press statement says the commission is especially concerned with what it perceives as the Department of Justice “minimizing its civil rights efforts” by placing ICE officers in courthouses and by not emphasizing the need for protection for the LGBT community or the disabled.
In the Department of Education, the commission says the proposed budget and staffing cuts in the Office for Civil Rights will affect those filing complaints based on sex, race, and other specially protected class categories.
Proposed staffing and budget cuts, and mergers of various offices in the Departments of Labor, Housing and Urban Development, Health and Human Services will all have a negative impact on the federal government’s job to monitor civil rights compliance efforts, says the commission.

Carrie Fisher's autopsy reveals cocktail of drugs, including cocaine, opiates and ecstasy
Fisher’s toxicology review found evidence of cocaine, methadone, MDMA (better known as ecstasy), alcohol and opiates when she was rushed to Ronald Reagan UCLA Hospital on Dec. 23, a toxicology report showed.
The test results “suggests there was an exposure to heroin, but that the dose and time of exposure cannot be pinpointed.” Therefore we cannot establish the significance of heroin regarding the cause of death in this case.”
The tests revealed that the cocaine would have been consumed within the previous 72 hours, according to the autopsy.

Suspect: John Donald Handy Jr., 46, Salisbury, MD
Narrative: On 18 June 2017 at 3:25 AM, a deputy responded to a residence in the 29000 block of Santa Fe Drive for a reported altercation. The deputy was informed that John Handy reportedly struck his live-in girlfriend in the face during the altercation. During the investigation, the deputy observed signs of injury that corroborated the account.
The deputy placed Handy under arrest and transported him to the Central Booking Unit where he was processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner. Following an initial appearance, the Commissioner detained Handy without bond pending a future bond review.
Charges: Assault 2nd Degree

Suspect: Wayne Watson Fadely, 33, Tyaskin, MD
Narrative: On 18 June 2017 at 9:12 PM, a deputy responded to the Leonard Apartments in the 800 block of Booth Street for a reported disorderly subject. Upon arrival, the deputy located the individual who would be later identified as Wayne Fadely and observed that Fadely appeared extremely intoxicated. The situation appeared to resolve itself as Fadely was assisted into a vehicle for the purpose of being removed from the area. At this point, Fadely attempted to place himself behind the wheel of the vehicle in what appeared to be an intent to drive away in his apparent intoxicated state.
The deputy attempted to assist Fadely from the vehicle in order to prevent him from driving away at which point Fadely kicked the deputy. With the assistance of another deputy, Fadely was successfully removed from the driver’s seat and placed under arrest. Fadely continued to be uncooperative with the deputies on scene which required them to then carry him to the patrol vehicle even as he told the deputies he was not getting into the patrol vehicle. Fadely would be placed in the patrol vehicle, but not before kicking one of the deputies again.
Fadely was transported to the Central Booking Unit where he was processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner. Following an initial appearance, the Commissioner detained Fadely in the Detention Center in lieu of $5,000.00 bond.

it would only be a short-term victory. Anyone who was on the fence would be shoved into their line of thinking and be firm in their resolve to right what they would perceive as a great injustice. You can fight an idea with bullets.
Education, examples of a better way, etc. You cannot force someone to change their mind. They have to do it themselves willingly and believe it. Just look at the war on terror as an example of what I'm saying.
Those people believe in what they are doing. It doesn't matter that it's wrong, to them they are right and everyone else is wrong and an enemy. The ones who will never change their mind HAVE to be killed, there is no other way for them.
And then there is the danger of making them a martyr and then you have a recruitment tool for others to join to avenge his death.
Nothing is as simple as just shooting someone and thinking the problem is solved.
But, there should be consequences for their actions. Bold, SWIFT, and meaningful consequences. No ridiculous red lines, or any of the other Obama-era nonsense.
When our "elite leaders" do criminal crap and no real consequences occur for them, well that just emboldens their followers to do likewise. We need to first cut off the head of such discord and show those types of actions will not be tolerated and real, swift, MEANINGFUL punishment occurs to them.
No sweeping it under the rug, no political favors, no immunity, no excuses.
Only then will people open their eyes, see consequences and hopefully think for themselves and consider what would happen if they did this or did that.

El Salvador has banned all metals mining, saying it poses "a threat to the development and well-being of families." It becomes the first country to implement a blanket metals mining ban.
El Salvador's Congress on Wednesday approved a law banning all metals mining in order to protect the environment.
Some countries have banned strip mining and open-pit techniques, but the bill passed in El Salvador prohibits all underground, aboveground or artisanal mining for metals.
Supporters of the bill say the ban is necessary to protect water resources and reduce social tensions.
"Mining is not an appropriate way to reduce poverty and inequality in this country," said Ivan Morales, country director for the charity Oxfam in El Salvador.
"It would only exacerbate the social conflict and level of water contamination we already have."

Fewer than a third of the country’s largest hospitals are using an industry standard designed to safeguard systems against cyber criminals’ most common attack vectors, according to a new report.
A review of 98 of the nation’s biggest public and for-profit health care facilities found that only 28 have deployed Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting and Conformance, or DMARC — a protocol meant to protect email systems against phishing attacks, spam and malware — the Global Cyber Alliance warned in a report Thursday.
The health care industry’s failure to implement the protocol more than five years after its introduction has essentially placed the security of their email systems in “critical condition,” according to the alliance, an assemblage of cybersecurity proponents founded in 2015 by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, among other agencies.
“As cyber threats mount against health care providers, deploying DMARC is an essential solution to protecting their patients’ data privacy,” said Philip Reitinger, a former U.S. Department of Homeland Security cyber expert and the alliance’s president.
When used effectively, DMARC can significantly limit the amount of spam and phishing emails received by a domain, essentially narrowing hackers’ options for infiltrating an organization.

It's a depressing question to ask on a Father's Day weekend: What does it mean that a superstar comic and philanthropist once "America's Dad" just saw his prosecution on sexual assault charges end in a mistrial?
The trial against Bill Cosby ended Saturday, when a deadlocked jury was unable to reach a verdict on three counts of aggravated indecent assault after several days of deliberations. Until and unless the jurors speak, we won't know if just one or two of them declined to convict or if there was more widespread disagreement.
Prosecutors have already said they will retry Cosby and people on every side of the issue have used the outcome to argue their cause — from advocates for rape victims concerned that other victims won't be believed to those, including Cosby's wife Camille, who say the jurors resisting conviction stopped an unfair process out to ruin a successful man.
I think the verdict shows, once again, how difficult it is to convict a celebrity of serious criminal charges, especially in a case that boils down to taking one non-famous person's word over the celebrity's account.

In no way is Judge Blake qualified to disassemble Maryland’s well-regarded higher education network and then re-assemble the pieces in an entirely new way that miraculously makes historically black schools integrated and thriving learning institutions.
Indeed, if she tries, Blake could make a costly, destructive mess of one of the nation’s better public higher-education systems.

Sad.. Congressional staffers boo Trump at unity baseball game
So much for de-fanging the poisonous debate in Washington.
Dozens of congressional staffers erupted into boos, jeers and even vulgar gesticulations Thursday when President Trump appeared in a video at the Congressional Baseball Game at Nationals Park.
Mr. Trump delivered a message of unity, but some fans in the stands weren’t having any of it.
One man shouted an expletive at the video screen as Mr. Trump was telling the fans: “We are showing the world we will not be intimidated by threats.”
The episode marred what had been a night celebrating those wounded in Wednesday’s murderous attack on GOP players practicing for the game.
When both teams went to second base — the symbolic spot where Rep. Steve Scalise was wounded in the attack at the Alexandria practice field — to kneel and pray, some mocked the prayer, too. The fans appeared to be Democratic staffers, having booed the announcement of several members of the GOP lineup.

Mr. Trump delivered a message of unity, but some fans in the stands weren’t having any of it.
One man shouted an expletive at the video screen as Mr. Trump was telling the fans: “We are showing the world we will not be intimidated by threats.”
The episode marred what had been a night celebrating those wounded in Wednesday’s murderous attack on GOP players practicing for the game.
When both teams went to second base — the symbolic spot where Rep. Steve Scalise was wounded in the attack at the Alexandria practice field — to kneel and pray, some mocked the prayer, too. The fans appeared to be Democratic staffers, having booed the announcement of several members of the GOP lineup.

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said Friday that "this whole thing stinks" regarding the Russia investigation, simply because special counsel Robert Mueller and former FBI Director James Comey are friends.
"Under the Justice Department's rules, Mueller has his own obligation to recuse himself with anything involving Comey," Gingrich, the former Republican Georgia congressman, told Sean Hannity on Fox News. "This makes you wonder why would you pick a close friend that involves Comey?
"This whole thing stinks."
Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein named Mueller to head the Russia probe a week after Comey's notes about his private conversations with President Donald Trump were leaked by a friend at the Columbia Law School to The New York Times.
Mueller also once headed the FBI.

‘Julius Caesar’ interrupted again by pro-Trump protesters
The Public Theater’s anti-Trump rendition of “Julius Caesar” was interrupted yet again on Sunday — with two protesters storming the stage this time, including one who shouted: “Liberal hate kills!”
Javanni Valle, 26, of Brooklyn, and Salvatore Cipolla, 28, of Oceanside, LI, were arrested and charged with trespassing and disorderly conduct following their Sunday evening stunt at Shakespeare in the Park.
The incident came during the show’s final performance in Central Park — and just two days after a similar protest unfolded at the outside venue.

The two discussed Breitbart’s coverage, the media, Russia, free speech, the shooting at a congressional baseball practice, and political rhetoric.
Marlow said that Breitbart is “not going to cover the exact same stories the exact same way as all the other outlets. We’ll leave that to the rest of the establishment press. We’re very much anti-establishment, trying to highlight stories that we don’t think get their fair day.”
After the discussion turned to Russia, Marlow stated that there was no evidence of collusion or obstruction of justice, adding, “You guys continue to talk about this story in the establishment press instead of talking about the president’s agenda, which is by design. Because you guys won’t apologize if it turns out there’s nothing, no one will come out on MSNBC, they’ll just move on to the next hysteria, and that’s a huge advantage for people like me who are covering the rest of the news.”
Maher spoke of corporations pulling ads from people who engage in speech they do not like. Marlow said, “This really started–in my view–in the modern era, with Breitbart–where a lot of people are boycotting Breitbart. And what they’re doing is, there’s a lot of anonymous people online, cowardly people. We don’t know who’s funding them. We don’t know who they are, who are putting out all of this mis-information about who we are and what we stand for, and they’re trying to round up corporations to boycott us. And so, what’s happened is that corporations are now deciding what’s free and fair speech, who can make a living.."

Father of murdered Germantown teen slams ‘lie’ about son
“He is such a sweet person,” Adi Najjar, father of slain 17-year-old Shadi Adi Najjar, told WTOP. “Loving, lovable person. He would never try to harm anybody.”
Najjar said that he and his wife went to great pains to ensure that their son had everything he needed — which is why he doesn’t believe the idea that Shadi would have been involved in a robbery.

“I’m inquiring about CNN’s bias and our return on investment,” shareholder David Almasi reportedly told Time Warner CEO Jeff Bewkes during Thursday’s annual shareholders meeting. “Half the American public—which includes potential and current CNN viewers—voted for Trump last November and supports his agenda. CNN acts as if it is part of the anti-Trump resistance.”
According to the Hollywood Reporter, “about half of the 300 people” at the annual shareholders meeting “applauded” Almasi while “several others later approached” him to “thank him for his questions.”
Almasi reportedly “cited data from the Media Research Center indicating that among the CNN panelists dissecting the May 9 firing of FBI director James Comey, 96 were anti-Trump and seven were pro-Trump.”

Republicans Demand Loretta Lynch Testify Over Clinton "Obstruction Of Justice"
Following former FBI Director Comey's testimony that President Obama's Attorney General Loretta Lynch asked him to downplay the Hillary Clinton email scandal, Senate Republicans are demanding hearings into her involvement in "obstructing justice."
As a reminder, Comey said Lynch instructed Comey not to call the criminal investigation into the Clinton server a criminal investigation. Instead, Lynch told Comey to call it a “matter,” Comey said, “which confused me.” Comey cited that pressure from Lynch to downplay the investigation as one of the reasons he held a press conference to recommend the Department of Justice not seek to indict Clinton.

WASHINGTON — An attorney for President Donald Trump was adamant on Sunday that the president is not under investigation, despite the president's tweets this week referring to one as a "witch hunt."
"Let me be clear here," said Jay Sekulow, a member of the president's legal team, on NBC's "Meet The Press." "The president is not and has not been under investigation for obstruction."
On Friday morning, Trump sent a tweet that seemed to confirm that he was under scrutiny, writing, "I am being investigated for firing the FBI Director by the man who told me to fire the FBI Director! Witch Hunt."

Sharp Rise in Violent Islamist Extremists in Sweden After Migrant Influx
The number of violent Islamist extremists in Sweden has soared from 200 in 2010 to “thousands”, intelligence agency Sapo said Friday, while noting that only a handful were deemed able to carry out a terror attack.
“We would say that (the number) has gone from hundreds to thousands now,” Sapo chief Anders Thornberg told news agency TT in an interview, describing the situation as “serious”.
“This is the ‘new normal’ … It is a historic challenge that extremist circles are growing,” he said.
He stressed, however, that only a few of the “thousands” had both the intention and ability to carry out a terror attack.
A 2010 Sapo report estimated the number of violent Islamist extremists in the Scandinavian country at 200.

Three men arrested in deaths of two Maryland teens
Three people have been charged with killing two Maryland teens who were found dead the night before their high school graduation.
Police have charged 25-year-old Jose Canales-Yanez, and brothers 19-year-old Roger Garcia and 24-year-old Edgar Garcia-Gaona each on two counts of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder.
Authorities believe that Shadi Adi Najjar, 17, and Artem Ziberov, 18, were killed in revenge for a robbery that one of the teens was rumored to have committed.
