Breaking News: SpaceX has launched into space the world's most powerful rocket, the Falcon Heavy. It's carrying a cherry-red sports car as its payload.
The launch of this turbocharged version of the workhorse Falcon 9 rocket, which has been carrying cargo to space for years, marks an important milestone in spaceflight, the first time a rocket this powerful has been sent into space by a private company rather than a government space agency.

Amazing. Especially the perfect landing of the booster rockets.
Wernher von Braun would be proud.
As much as I love this technology, I'd rather not use the money sending a sports car into orbit around the sun. What are we supposed to learn from this?
More space junk just what humanity needs
Not your money and it is a test of the technology.
Test flights carry dummy payloads to test the rockets carrying capacity. Musk just added a little humor to make it more interesting than carry concrete blocks.
What we’ve learned is that the Falcon Heavy is capable of carrying an exteremely sizable payload into orbit and beyond. Something else we learned is that private ventures are capable of succeeding where government programs failed. NASA have nothing close to being this capable.
Not sure we really need to put humans on Mars but if we do, Musk is the guy to do it.
Funny how you guys always attempt to wedge your polotical narrative in despite the facts. Do you really think there is a "falcon heavy" without the decades of public private partnerships that include NASA and DoD?
8:53 not our money? How do you think Musk is a billionaire? From all of the tax payers money
The falcon rockets are capable of sending double the payload at a third of the cost compared to the next runner up.
And you will benefit from his technology when the oil runs dry and the oil barons can no longer bribe politicians
Id rather have my tax money go to Tesla and the advance of cleaner technology than to some North Korea style military parade. And before you start-- I'm retired army. No one likes to march.
Every industry gets government money. Banks to big to fail, automotive manufacturers, big pharm and mega farmers. Once you pay your taxes, it's not your money anymore.
Amazing what an immigrant can do..
Joe is a Musk fan.
Thanks for posting this Joe!
I'm with you. I don't believe for one second that Musk is a front for intelligence. I think he really is extremely smart. Even though I have never met him. I don't believe it takes THOUSANDS of people to develop these technologies. One guy can do it.
Steve Jobs did it. He created all of those gadgets by himself. He did NOT need Langley to invent those items.
And yes, I do believe Al Gore invented the internet.
Don't you?
