Fatal house fire Prince St. 4 year old killed.

There was a structure fire on Prince St that resulted in the fatality of a small child. The public is in no danger, it's just the grieving family.

Interesting how the children never survive.

Thank you all for your fast responses hearing the screams was quite upsetting, we just heard too about the news the family needs our prayers and assistance. Thank you all once again and you Joe for helping at such a stressful time. We had another bad fire here about 5-6 yrs ago where a family all died on Washington St I think it was the 500 block back then.

No volunteers to help how pathetic.

No, you're wrong. Station 2 volunteers were the 2nd fire engine on scene. They were using Engine 16-1 because their engine is out for repair. And the 3rd engine on scene was from Fruitland. There were more volunteers than career at the scene of that fire.

Wrong jackass!! E16-1 was all volunteers!!!!

Damn 9:10 you are so quick to call someone a jackass. If you actually reread the statement posted it says, actually I'll type it so you understand " station 2 volunteers were the 2nd engine on the scene and they showed up with engine 16-1 because clearly engine 2 was out of service. Good job to all the volunteers and career guys that tried everything in their power to have a successful outcome that ended up not being successful.prayers to the family and everyone involved.

However the fire station closest to this tragedy never got out. Wander what happened to the station 1 volunteers?

How does a child get trapped in a one floor house in the middle of the day with other adults/people present???? I am sorry for that poor childs death but how does that happen? I would die with my child ..

They're probably too busy trying to figure out how to separate from the city.......

Did you stop reading at jackass? Because my statement clearly stated exactly what you said. And it was in response to the poster who said they were no volunteers there. I'm aware of who was on E16-1 and know that E-2 is getting its accident damage repaired. And it seems that you need the comprehension lesson because I stated (and I'll break this down so you can understand): "Wrong jackass (the person I actually replied to, not you made an inaccurate statement)!! E16-1 was all volunteers (meaning all persons aboard that apparatus are VOLUNTEERS)!! So yes I was quick to call them a jackass, but you obviously weren't "quick" enough to comprehend that you are arguing the exact point I made. Crawl back under your keyboard, genius.

How sad that most of the comments relate to paid vs. volunteer responders .stop the hating , and fix the problems .my goodness a family just lost a child .

It's actually not as difficult as one would think. Depending on what started the fire and materials immediately surrounding the point of ignition it could incapacitate the child while cutting off any chance of rescue in a minute or even less. And your keyboard bravery is just that. You would of done whatever your parasympathetic nervous system told you to do: fight or flight. And most it would be flight.

You Firemen are pathetic.A little girl died and you are arguing over who did more-vollies or career. If you are that big of a baby, stay home!Every accident or fire and you ninnies are bickering over who is best.If I am in danger ,I don't give a damn which fireman arrives first,as long as he shows up.
