Baltimore City Council Gives Preliminary Approval To Minimum Wage Hike

A bill that seeks to raise Baltimore's minimum wage to $15 passed another hurdle in the City Council Monday.

Lawmakers voted 7-4 (with three abstaining and one absent) to let the bill, spearheaded by Councilwoman Mary Pat Clarke, move forward.

Councilwoman Helen Holton said this isn't the time to raise the minimum wage and that Baltimore should not lead the state, while Councilman Warren Branch worried the move would hurt his district.

Dumb @$$ Democrat just don't get it do they. Some of their more qualified and credentialed workers probably make $15 and now this is going to put common street workers with no education or experience in the same pay grade without considering compression. This is nothing but an ignorant Socialist move.

These dummies voting for this are way to dumb to be elected officials to make decisions for us.

I can't wait to see this make Baltimore City spiral even further in the cess pool that it is.

That Whopper Junior you like so much is now $4.49, plus tax, just for the sandwich. The WJ meal will be $7.69, plus tax.
We'll be paying for the raises.
And under the Dems will be an employer tax incentive to offset the pay increases so that bottom lines aren't decimated, and guess who pays for that...

If your ship is sinking what better to do than to open the hatches!

And, in a heartless move, this will devastate the purchasing power of Freddie Gray's family.

Does this mean all the state offices that are in Baltimore City will have to pay $15.00 an hour? Try calling some of them. Most are not worth $5.00 an hour. Many are little to no help. Places will close up and move out. The Mayor will claim it's because they are racist.
