Dear Your Three Members of Congress,
Amid the recent attacks in Paris, France, I urge you to make sure Rep. Brian Babin's H.R. 3314, the Resettlement Accountability National Security Act of 2015, is included in the upcoming appropriations bill. FBI Director James Comey warned earlier this month that the agency has no way to fully vet Syrians who seek refuge in the United States. This is a national security threat and should be put on hold until we have a way to completely vet them.
The attacks in France showed just how vulnerable we are to terrorism. We cannot make it easier by resettling Syrian refugees in the United States when we can't determine exactly who they are.
According to FBI Director Comey, "We can only query against that which we have collected and so if someone has never made a ripple in the pond in Syria in a way that would get their identity or their interest reflected in our database, we can query our database until the cows come home, but there will be nothing show up because we have no record of them."
American lives are at risk if mistakes are made, therefore I urge you to make sure H.R. 3314 is included in the upcoming spending bill. No refugees should be allowed into the United States until we are 100% sure they can be fully vetted.
Sincerely,
