Cedar Hill Marina Dredging Project Commences April 7

Salisbury, MD – A dredging project has commenced at Cedar Hill Marina, with an expected completion date of May 15th. The project is not expected to impact users of either the marina or park. The effects of Hurricane Sandy caused the marina’s channel to fill in prematurely, which results in very shallow water at low tide. The project, completed by Ray Nornes, Inc. will correct this by removing material from the channel through a hydraulic dredging process.

The Department of Natural Resources’ Waterway Improvement Fund is funding the project. Established in 1966, this fund provides grants for the improvement and promotion of recreational and commercial capabilities, conditions and safety of Maryland’s waterways for the benefit of the general boating public. Revenues for the fund are obtained from a one time 5% excise tax that is paid to the State of Maryland when a boat is registered and titled in the State.
