Video: DC Delegate Takes To Floor To Criticize Harris

Earlier this month, leaders in Washington DC urged their residents to boycott Ocean City and the Eastern Shore, which are represented by Maryland 1st District Republican Congressman Andy Harris.

Earlier this month, Harris attached an amendment to the District of Columbia appropriations bill that would bar the city from using any city funds from enforcing its marijuana decriminalization law

All city laws are subject ot the approval of Congress.

Washington DC is run by the Federal government specifically because it's the "People's City" and that is why they don't have a representative. It's all Federal.

But all that aside does she really want drugs in an already violent city? And values? Those are her values? To have drugs?

All in all I think she made some pretty racist comments. I know I'm offended.

This is the same idiot that in one of your posts from yesterday had this to say:
Rep. Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-D.C.) lectured her colleagues in the U.S. House of Representatives that they “don’t have a right to know everything in a separation-of-powers government.”
Remember people never ever let DC become a state.

If the OC regulation governing where people can change their clothes doesn't change no boycott will be needed.

Let's deny the funds to write these violations up as parking tickets but fund full blown prosecutions. Over crowd the courts and prisons for a little weed.
Where is the fiscal conservatism in that?

It's illegal and dangerous BOZO!! What part of that don't you understand! I don't want you or any other thugs driving impaired while I am on the road with my precious cargo. Kill one of them and I will kill you. You will die a slow death if you kill one of my children.

This boycott is why crime is down in Ocean City so it is a good thing. We have seen the reports of lower crime in the news and people who listen to the scanner tell me this as well. My friend said last night after the bridge was finally reopened the PD scanner was quiet for the rest of the night.
Let's face it, anyone who listens to this woman who is forever lying among other character flaws, isn't exactly the kind of person decent law biding citizens want anywhere near them.

Everyone is under the impression that the courts and prisons are over crowded because of marijuana. This isn't anywhere near the truth and is just propaganda. Go and sit in any court in the country and you can go days without even one marijuana case on the docket and when there is a case involving it, maybe 1% (if that) does the person ever see the inside of a jail cell for even one night.
MD prisons aren't anywhere near capacity nor are most in the country. A few detention centers maybe be but it's temporary like if there is a particularly violent night in a major city or something.

I hope DC residents would boycott OC and the shore...crime would go down.

Eleanor knows, if your people can't obey the law, change the law so they don't look like the criminals they are. That my friends is affirmative action.

Marijana is a plant. God made it.

Stop calling it a drug.

Cocaine, Heroine, etc . . . those are drugs.

Ask any cop who they would rather deal with a drunk or someone who is stoned.

Anonymous said...

Maybe without any funds they should stop enforcing all laws against it. How is that?

1:51, I understand your point but Cocaine and Heroin are also from plants. The Coca plant and Opium Poppies. Even though MJ is smoked from the plant itself instead of being a distillation of the plant. Not that different from the way Whiskey, Vodka, Rum and Gin are made when you think about it.

1:51-Marijuana is indeed a drug.
A drug is defined medically as any substance which has a physiological effect when introduced into the body.
The substances include any medicines and pharmaceuticals, antidotes, medicaments as well as alcohol and illegal substances.

ECI has been overcrowed almost since it has opened. Inmates there only serve half their sentence as a reward for living under those conditions. It is currently at 200 percent of its designed capacity.

The only reason pot became illegal is because the politically powerful Hurst family feared competition to its hemp business monopoly back in the 50's. It is relatively harmless whben compared to the other stuff being smoked these days.

I don't think so 6:29. ECI main facility has a capacity of 2665. Last quarterly report (Apr) puts the population at 2671. Annex holds 610 with population at 596.

Anonymous 1:51, you are a idiot. Cocaine comes from a plant as does heroin. Most drugs come from plants.

While close to intended capacity none of the MD prisons are overcrowded.
Capacity at Roxbury is 1717, population stands at (all approx.) 1656, Western Correction can house 1793. 1589 current.
The prison numbers will not get much lower due to the control those who hold Dept of Corrections contracts have over the politicians (control in the form of contributions), most specifically the industry food vendors.

In MD inmates can receive diminutive (good) credits of 10 days per month. They can get additional 10 day/month credits by working, attending classes and/or treatment sessions.
Early release isn't unique to ECI. It's mandatory.

8:04, u too are an idiot. Indigenous people in south america still chew coca leaves, and it's in that Coca cola americans love. those natural plants don't turn into crack or heroin until man alters their chemical composition, unlike marijuana
