Top Eastern Shore Dems Pay Tribute To Del. Norm Conway

SHOWELL– Top Eastern Shore Democrats met with donors on Saturday, Aug. 9, to pay tribute to Maryland Del. Norm Conway (38B) in what could be a preview of the party’s strategy during the November general election.

Maryland State Sen. Jim Mathias (D-38) emceed the event at Showell Park, which included several members of the “team” of Democratic candidates running for election in Worcester and Wicomico counties. A number of speakers during the event also highlighted the voting bloc of Mathias and Conway.

Redistricted to Wicomico County from Worcester this year, Conway formerly represented Somerset County before becoming a similar victim of redistricting in 2000. Mathias insisted that Conway would remain loyal to his Worcester County constituents, and highlighted their partnership in the general assembly. Conway is chair of the House Appropriations Committee.

“Chairman Conway has continued to be there for Somerset, and he will continue to be there for us in Worcester, and we’re going to be with him in Wicomico,” he said. “For the first time, really, in me, he has a partner in the Maryland Senate. Our team is at work in Annapolis and our team is at work here on the Eastern Shore.”

Conway has one goal, being a great Democrat. He rejects cooperation with any Republicans. It is unfortunate thAt is what he has become because it wasnt always that way. Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely. Sad but true.

"he's been there for Somerset"
Really? Whomever made this statement doesn't have very high standards.
Somerset has high unemployment, low wage levels, high poverty levels, high high school drop out rates, high illiteracy rates, etc.
Anyone who thinks long time Somerset rep Conway has been good for Somerset county is quite frankly, a moron.

Mathias and Conway are well aware of the fact that their chances to win in November are much slimmer this year and are grasping at straws to try to fool voters. What a couple of Frauds.

You will never get a straight answer from Norm.

It looks like to me that there has been an ommission by the liar Mathias. There was NO mention of the 54,000.00 dollar stipend to the Willards Lions` Club. Mathias and Conway engineered this fiasco and then SAW IT THROUGH. NO OTHER civic organization in EITHER county knew there were funds available for the good of their groups and this secret was well kept by the both of them. I imagine MOST of the tri-county service clubs could have used a protion of that money but were NEVER afforded the opportunity to say so or apply for them. A vote for Jim Mathias is a vote for a LIAR. Bob Aswell

Bob
I was told the money that went to the lions club was to install a generator so that the building could be used as an emergency shelter.

I'm voting for Mayor Carl Anderton! For the first time in Delmar's 150 year history they have a corporate headquarters, that employs 55 people. The building was vacant when Carl was sworn in. Delmar also has a 6,000 seat music amphitheater on the way and has seen new home building rise over the past 2 years.
