The burned out shell of a building will make an excellent drug spot.

Fire boys and their toys.

A fire in Salisbury!!!!!!!! Blow the dust off the tankers and hope they start hang on boys there's a fire!!! Can we take the boat? Maybe next time! :-(

Salisburys volleys didn't show. Proof Salisbury needs paid guys. Salisbury should never need other towns to help fight a fire. Sfd has more than enough apparatus to fight any fire in the district. It's the lack of man power.

WBOC can't even get the address right. They reported it as "North Salisbury Blvd"!

Yeah! That's exactly what Salisbury needs, A bunch of fat lazy overpaid fire personal laying, around eating and waiting for a fire.

Maybe if you treated them better they would show up. The paid crew act like they are special and don't need the help of the volunteers. I guess the volunteers were wrong in thinking the paid crew could handle this.

@2:14 the boys from Parsonsburg are VOLLEYS and look they SHOWED up, and HELPED!!

Assume it was only the paid guys and gals from Fruitland, Delmar, Hebron, and Parsonsburg who showed up.

Guess they were done grocery shopping at Giant or Food Lion in time to put in some work. Glad they weren't out playing on their toy boat when a real fire broke out.

The Volleys from Fruitland, Hebron, Delmar, Parsonsburg, Mardela and Laurel Delaware were there. Hmmm... Something tells me there is a problem in Salisbury if what you are saying is true. If the Volleys from Salisbury didn't show up then the only PROOF is that there is a serious problem in Salisbury and it lies in the hand of the fire chief. Now who would that be? Oh that's right Jim Ireton appointed Rick Hoppes after he told everyone he was getting rid of Rick Hoppes and Bill Gordy. Funny thing is he denied Rick Hoppes the appointment 5 different times then appointed him. Rick Hoppes is the reason there are no volunteers in Salisbury to respond, but the volunteers an the entire Eastern Shore are ready to respond. Yep, Rick Hoppes is your problem.

Interesting enough Chief Simpson ran off Bill Gordy and now Jim Ireton is hiring him to be the general contractor for the brand new Station #2 firehouse being built.

Also proves that Jim Ireton is the problem for hiring Rick Hoppes.

You fools are so caring - A business, is burning and you idiots feel it is the proper time to write "joke around" comments. Sorry I cannot see a thing to joke or laugh about in this situation.

Would you be doing this if it was your business, or would you be thanking our Lord for sending help, no matter if volunteer, paid, from Timbuktu or Salisbury. Lord point out the way to these lost souls who's only concern is to look for ways to vilify others.

Thank you 4:59. All anyone wants to do here is snipe about the fire department. All good fun unless it's your own house burning down.

Must be come here's running the F.D.s here cause this paid/vol.crap sounds like the counties across the bridge 20 years ago. Surely the born here's wouldn't behave this way.

A fire draws fire trucks like night light draws bugs.

Oh Boy look at that brand new Ford Explorer chiefs car. I bet that was really needed on the call.

Wasted tax dollars.!!

My god how many fire departments does it take to put out one simple 2 story house fire! Seems like the whole systems needs to be redone or replaced.

I was thinking the same thing. Ask JG about it. That punk is "worrying about his Brothers and Sisters because they don't need to be working in that heat."

So according to your report today (8/22)
5 fire companies in Wicomico sent 40 firemen to the fire?

JoeAlbero said...

8:22, Not only that... other fire departments had to send staffing to Salisbury to back their station up.

Yesterdays fire on N. Division St. was not your ordinary run of the mill fire. Arriving firefighters found a rapidly advancing fire in a very large multiple occupancy building. The structure is estimated to be 100 years old or more. For 4 hours Volunteer and Career firefighters from Salisbury and its neighboring companies worked together in extreme heat and humidity to extinguish this fire and save as much property as possible.

As the incident commander I witnessed nothing but complete cooperation and teamwork from every individual involved. I would like to thank the men and women from Salisbury, Delmar, Hebron, Fruitland, Parsonsburg, Mardela and Allen for their contributions yesterday. No department of our size could handle an incident of this size without Teamwork and assistance from Mutual Aid companies.Fires that occur Monday through Friday 7-5 present a manpower shortage to fire departments across the country. People have to work and support their families. While units are busy handling the incident at hand there are fill in companies manning the stations. The next emergency doesn't wait until your finished with the first emergency. You have to be prepared if those additional calls come in.

At the end of the day the building was saved and no citizens were injured or killed. The fire department accomplished its mission to protect lives and property.

Just to be someone clear. I do believe that is engine 2 in one of those pictures so there was at least some volunteer response from station 2 anyway. But a few of you are right with the statements they are running off the volunteers. They make it so hard to become one. Have double standards with career and volunteer (career get more relaxed standards) constantly pester for money. He'll what kind of fire chief refers to his volunteer component as just a source of financial income to his department. Wake up tax payers. Joe do a piece on where your tax dollars go to for the fire department and look up the city charter and see for yourself. County gives money to the volunteers and the city just tries to take it. If the boards reject the plans they get threaten all the time. For once it is honestly not a career v volunteer issue. It's volunteer v the fire chiefs office. He'll station two is getting a new building that doesn't suite it's current needs. Why. Cause the fire chief says so and says they will pay 100k towards it no mater what. Wake up people. Volunteers don't show up so much cause fire chief and his goons are running them out. Check it out for your self. Volunteers get no credit for anything it's always the paid guys. City set functions up for the paid guys cause they make them during the day when most volunteers are working. Volunteers can't do this or that but paid guys can. Volunteer guys meet the qualification to drive said ladder trucks but can't and paid guys can. Volunteers have to start driving brush truck for almost a year to be consider to drive an engine. Paid guys don't. This administration is killing the volunteers. And that's their goals. They don't want them to be successful they just want their career guys that most are not even as close to being as trained as most of the volunteers in the bury and surrounding.

Most of what you said is a lie. Just the opposite of what you said. The career division is held to a higher standard. Take becoming an officer for example, career need to have all requirements to test, volunteers do not if appointed they have a year to meet the requirements. Your statement about career guys not having as much training as volunteers even from the county, well most volunteer or have volunteered at other county departments. It is people like you causing problems in the department, and people like you that need to move on.

244p. You assume I belong to your organization? This is all common knowledge stuff. You know there is more our there than the career division of the SFD.
