From the NYTimes- "Initially, Ms. Carey was thought to have gotten out of the car when she was shot on Thursday afternoon. Early accounts of such events are often inaccurate, however, and on Friday, new details emerged about the shooting and the woman who was killed."
How can a major detail such as, was she in or out of the car when shot, have been a point of confusion even early on? Was the car moving when she was shot? If the car wasn't moving when she was shot then that blows the whole "deadly weapon" excuse out the window.
cbsnews site has a series of pictures. In several photos you can clearly see the front end of the vehicle. There is no damage. I would expect damage if she had intentionally "rammed" a barricade as is being reported. In another photo it appears as though the car has jumped the curb and is on grass. Bullet holes visible on driver side door. Several feet beyond that are yellow markers indication blood. No blood in between car and markers. Looks as though she was shot while out of the car and several feet away from it lending credibility to the story originally told that she was out of the car and attempting to run.
right and lets see every day somewhere in america cops deploy stop tpikes and take the driver down without killing them. real good police work here. and the reason the congress applauds them is they know they are gonna need them when everything comes crashing down to protect them from the rest of the populace!
cops are supposed to diffuse the situation, not be the judge & jury. they are supposed to be trained to think ahead and resolve the situation only using lethal force as a last result. they should have disabled her car, shoot out the tires, etc. tragedies don't get applause. you are being trained to become numb to control and marshall law, someday, I suppose, we will all applaud your death too.
The killling of a mentally ill person in a hail of gunfire because she kept bumping ("ramming the gate" was the police description -- the video tells the truth) a gate that a an amoured personnel carrier probably couldn't penetrate is a sad thing. But to CHEER her death is straight out of an Orwell novel. How many video's have we seen of the police yanking people out of the drivers seat (not bothering with opening the door)? They couldn't have done that? Oh right. No macho fun in THAT. Killing an unarmed person (a woman, too) is not a standing ovation event.

That's ok! Next week they will be suing them and taking their guns. There waiting to see which way the wind is blowing.

a pencil is a deadly weapon , or a spoon , or a hammer or what ever the cops feel like labeling it.
