A Comment Worthy Of A Post 10-2-13

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "Obamacare: Wrong In Practice, Wrong In Theory":

Why are we the only country in the world who can't get behind affordable healthcare for those most vulnerable?

Sure Obamacare is flawed absolutely, but wrong in theory? I'm not so sure about that.

Most people are conflating health insurance with health care. I am here to tell you that even if health insurance is affordable, What does that mean for the health care you will receive. ZERO ZILCH NADA. As a 30 year payer of health care premiums, I can tell you it doesn't mean that you will get the health care yon need, when you need it. You will merely be helping to pay for the health care of those that do receive it. As long as you are healthy, they will certainly take your money. JUst because you have health insurance doesn't mean you will find a doctor to treat you. I wish liberals would pull their head out of their butts and live in the real world and not the theoretical one.

We do have affordable (and in a lot instances completely free) healthcare for those most vulnerable. It's called Medicaid.

Seriously and I mean no disrespect but where has this commenter been? They need to familiarize themselves with Medicaid.

There is a difference between getting care for health problems (healthcare) and health care insurance.

You may have all the insurance in the world and no need to use it.

You may also have no insurance and some/occasional/frequent need for treatment.

Our system for quite a few years has ensured that folks needing treatment could get it, with or without an ability to pay or repay. Was it a perfect system? No. Was it pretty darn good? Yes.

They (Obama, Reid, Pelosi and their tools) have lurched us into an off-road exercise: where folks who were covered by plans they & employers had chosen are being vacated; doctors and hospitals will get less for more; and as many will remain uncovered as before; the healthy young are being 'drafted' to pay for expensive services they won't need.

Socialist's dream & everyone else's nightmare!

We already have two government healthcare programs, Medicare and Medicaid, why did we have to create more bureaucracy? Why not have made Medicare or Medicaid available to everyone for a price or a sliding scale? Nothing but more bloated bureaucracy!

Because 11:46 the democrats are ruled by big business which includes the insurance companies. The insurance executives are laughing their butts off at the utter ignorance of a lot of the American public-and laughing all the way to the bank. This bureaucracy was created to line their pockets and take the blame off of them and shifting it to the government for rationing healthcare.
Just look at the "exchanges." Anyone with an ounce of sense can see the out of pocket expenses are through the roof and quality is the bottom of the barrel.

You are right 11:46 single payer would have been the way to go. Instead Republicans wanted free market and protection of the insurance companies. It was done to compromise with the Republicans. See where that got us.

I don't mean any disrespect either but the question asked "Why are we the only country in the world who can't get behind affordable healthcare for those most vulnerable?" just blows my mind and brings to light how truly uninformed Americans are.

Why do we want to be like other countries? We used to be the greatest nation in the world. Slowly we are going down hill just like the other countries.

1:15 We have never had the best healthcare in the world, at anytime in our history.

Anytime you give something to someone for nothing that you pay for by taking from someone else the theory is wrong!

Life expectancy and overall health of people in countries with socialized heath care far exceeds ours. Sure, there may be the frustrations of waiting in lines, but I'll take that any day over less care.
