Lt. Governor Holds News Conference On Gun Control

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown is urging Maryland lawmakers to pass a gun control measure that would ban assault weapons, limit magazine rounds and create a new licensing requirement for handguns buyers.

The bill would also prohibit anyone who has been involuntarily committed due to mental illness from possessing a firearm.

Brown, flanked by law enforcement officials, spoke to reporters Thursday in Annapolis.

Notice how omally sent brown to beg for this. With the democratic party on a federal pulling out there ban. omally is stuck with legislation that not even his own party would push. Funny thing will be when he realizes how unpopular this legislation really is and that with his own party pulling out this will hamper his presidential chances not help them. He was quick to rush out legislation that now even his own party is ditching. I hope this PR stunt back fires on him. This has nothing to do with guns. This has to do with your 2nd amendment rights. We must never forget if he does pass this through. If he will trample your rights now what would he do on a federal level.

All the smart politicians are jumping ship on this bill. Americans suport the second amendment.

You would think that keeping unstable people from owning a firearm is a good thing. But there is a concerted push to label everyone possible as mentally ill. Why do you think PTSD magically appeared? Why are soldiers being pushed onto anti-depressants? A big part of it is that they want these trained citizens to be barred from defending the people and the country that they swore and trained to protect.

As soon as they get all the school kids on their meds, and stressed parents on theirs, veterans and old folks on theirs, they can call most of the population mentally incompetent and start marching down your block. Oh, we'll have to take yours, too, so the crazy vet next door can't break in and steal them, you are in a highly mentally ill area.

"...flanked by law enforcement officials...". Their muscle. It wasn't any of the law enforcement officials who testified AGAINST this law, was it? ANOTHER bill opposed loudly and vociferously by what seemed to be an overwhelming majority of Maryland citizens. But our "representatives" (spit the taste out of your mouth here) are pushing this down our throats anyway. THESE are the rulers. The lowest of humans. Liars. Self-important and unconcerned about the will of "we, the people". They have an agenda and it AIN'T ours. Keep voting and keep cheering. Or not. Doesn't matter now. Just stay ready.

What really needs to be addressed here is that there is no representation for the mentally troubled.People come into the ER for a bad day, just too much to handle today. They now risk losing their 2nd Amendment rights as another thing to worry about. More stress. They fear signing up for a few sessions with a psychologist for the same reason. Marriage counseling requires both parties present even though only one has mental issues, and the goal is to prescribe a way to handle the issue. o. Pressure builds. Somebody cracks, then you have a disastrous result.

All these things threaten 2A rights, so people don't get the help they need in fear of this.

This is the most serious problem with the "mass shooter" issue, however, it is never discussed. Only gun control is.

What a shame we are as a society to deny help to our community, then blame those who reach the end of their rope.

Shame, shame, shame.
