People Only Want Equal Respect, and that is why the needs to NAACP exist, when the African-American population in Salisbury is GROSSLY under-represented, and this council majority doesn't care at all. It's why you've got Mark Tilghman running around saying blacks don't deserve to be represented. Is that why the council majority replaced city council?

My brother-in-law is an attorney. Tilghman NEVER said the things 3:43 says he said. He CORRECTLY stated that case law does not require a district based SOLELY on race. In fact, that is FORBIDDEN!!
The council majority 3:43 knocks created MORE opportunity for minorities than they have NOW and they did NOT cave to any special interest group.

Cindy, the reason you are hearing the NAACP come up when you read about the council is because the NAACP and ACLU are threatening to sue the city to get what they want for a redistricting plan.
It's not really about the council. It happens all over the country.
From what I've watched on tv, this council has handled it pretty well. They are sensitive to minorities but not kissing butt either. I think they want to do the right thing by minorities but also want to protect the city legally.
Maybe Joe can explain something to us. Why does the NAACP care about cutting Salisbury up into so many pieces if what they are trying to get is equal opportunity for minorities? What the council came up with seem to do that, but the NAACP woman was still hollering at them.
I think that the true minorities in this country are the elderly and the Veterans. No matter what their color, they get nothing. You have to have kids to get free food and medical help.
