President Obama announced a new military strategy on Thursday that will cut the Pentagon budget by hundreds of billions of dollars over the next decade.Speaking from the Pentagon, Obama said the plan is "smart, strategic" and sets priorities.
"I just want to say that this effort reflects the guidance I gave throughout this process," Obama said. "Yes, the tide of war is receding. But the question that this strategy answers is what kind of military will we need after the long wars of the last decade are over. And today, we're moving forward, from a position of strength."

The right thing to do as we draw down from two wars. Seems like President Obama is finally hitting his stride. God bless President Obama.
more people than not are very concerned regarding this issue. it's not good for this nation and if you would research the numbers you would see the truth behind this.
the Main job for our leaders according to the constitution is to protect its citizens. this is not going to happen under bo. we must get new leadership.
The last time the military was cut and spending was slashed was under Clinton and we were attacked by al qadea shortly after.
I'm not an Obama lover--far from it--but I think this is the right thing to do with the economy the way it is. Why should the military be the untouchable "sacred cow?" If we can wind down these wars, we would not need such a huge miliary.
The last time Democrats did this 9/11 happened.

9/11 was many years in the planning stages and was not that well known.
9/11 happened. It doesn't matter whether the military had been cut or not, it still would have happened.
9/11 happened to strike at our countrys FINANCIL base, and they succeeded in doing just that. Look where we are today. Most of our "problems" were intitiated by the attacks on 9/11.
NO President, and NO Congress could have stopped 9/11 because nobody saw it coming.
Clinton was offered Bin Laden several times by the leader of Sudan, 4 if not mistaken and Clinton refused. And yes the CIA and FBI knew Bin Laden was planning to attack America by flying planes into buildings somewhere in this country. Must not watch many of the 9/11 memorial shows that discuss this.

That's not entirely true. We had a man in intelligence who knew this was coming and tried to warn about it. He was ignored.
And some woman senator or congresswoman actively blocked his efforts to warn and thwart the attack.
Why? Because he showed her up and made her look foolish.
Would it have happened anyway? Maybe. Who knows. Just goes to show the ineptitude of government and it's agents.
