I suggest you take it down by about $900,000 then you won't look like such an fool. The average primary care physician makes between $100K to $150K and they do so by working 60 to 80 hrs per week under such stress that even the above average person would not tolerate. Also, who are "the rest of us" as you say? Have the rest of us put in the tens of thousands of hours needed to complete the level of education that physicians have? Do the rest of us go to work every day and actually save lives and or have the immensely positive impact on peoples lives that physicians do? Before you voice such moronic comments about physicians take a close look at yourself and figure out what it is about you that makes you so unhappy.

I wish doctors, especially specialists would make a well above average wage. After many years of college and student loans along with the responsibility of saving lives they deserve all the money they can make.When it comes time to save the life of one of my loved ones,I'll take the top earning doctor I can find. For the idiots that begrudge them their earnings, you can have the lowest earning doctor out there.

Average has many different meanings based on specialties.
the average radiologist reports 344,000$ the lowest,101,000$. The highest, 911,000$.
The top 2 hospital administrator's at PRMC earn over 2 million dollars per year.
The fact is, just drive through the parking lot at any medical facility and you will see the toy's they drive. or the multiple homes, or the wive's that do not work.... your perspective is obviously skewed. (I guess someone didn't get to go to Europe for a month this year. Had to cut it back to 2 weeks instead.)Awww.

You left out the large practices they run, the malpractice insurance they must pay for, the large amounts of overhead, and the numerous jobs their practices create in the community.
Also left out the fact that the average physician now comes out of med school with roughly 350k in loans give or take 50k.
Yeah, they have high incomes comparatively speaking, but do you experience the pressure at work of having your hands inside someones body cavity and holding their life in the balance. Are you available at a moments notice and have to be on your game 100% of the time no matter what time it is because someone else's life depends on it? I didn't think so.
Here is an idea...if you want to make a decent living, study hard and work for it.
Sounds like a lot of jealousy out there in Salisbury. If one is willing to sacrifice many things in order to go to med school, then they deserve to make more money than someone who works at a menial job. This is one of the reasons so many people object to Mr. Obama and his socialist ideas. In a socialist society, there is no incentive to do well as the government will reward mediocre performances...

Maybe most of them wouldn't be going broke if they didn't have to pay such exhorbitant premiums for malpractice insurance so some lawyer can become rich without having to justify anything and claim their money from their duped clients. I only know that we are losing doctors at an alarming rate.My hope is that those who cease practicing for one reason or another are replaced by new doctors.Things are'nt like they once were. Too many issues for them to navigate,such as college loans and inevitable malpractice suits,and rising malpractice insurance costs.Kinda makes me wonder why some young people choose to practice medicine.Thank goodness for those who do.

Anything that the doctor can't cure is subject to lawsuit.

I work for a medical practice and the malpractice insurance skyrockets more every year!! The world needs to remember that no matter how skilled a doctor is, people will still die under their care sometimes. God is the giver and receiver of life. He just gives the doctors the skill and wisdom to help us along a little farther. :-)
A little chlorine in the gene pool... not a bad idea however probably not necessary. The only problem is natural selection is a much slower process. Lots of jealousy, envy and plain old BS information on this blog posted by Doctor Bashers. Fact is, the overwhelming majority of Physicians deserve every penny they make (and more) and who are we to tell them how they can spend their hard-earned money. The critics will always be able to point to one bad apple (Dr. McLean) and try to drag the remaining good ones down with him. Although it may be humorous to read such idiotic posts it is otherwise not worth the time wasted to do so.
