Mississippi Woman Receives Three Year Prison Sentence For Feeding Her Family
Last week, a federal court in Mississippi sentenced a key figure in a $3 million mortgage fraud scheme to two and a half years in federal prison. Just a few days earlier, however, a Mississippi federal judge imposed a significantly harsher sentence on a woman who lied on her benefits applications in order to receive just $4,367 in food stamps to help feed her family:

Stealing is stealing.
She probably got caught cause she was white. Tired of seeing food stamps being used for candy, crabs, seafood, and subs from eagle express
Read the article, Bozo's! She got it because she needed it to keep her kids alive. She knew it was against local law, so when she could, she PAID IT BACK! she did what any normal caring parent would do, and she did what any morally law abiding citizen would do.

You actually think some people can read?! I bet it took them 10 minutes to type those asinine statements.
What the article fails to make mention of is something called the Qualifying Drug Felon Addendum.
I wonder if that's what the woman lied about?
All one has to do is enroll and participate in a government recognized drug treatment progam like NA and cease the use of all controlled substances and you are not denied the food stamps.
This addendum is a simple yes or no form. Maybe she didn't attend a treatment program but checked yes on the form.

Sorry but I see how people abuse these benefits all the time.They "sell" them to buy their drugs and alcohol so the kids are not getting the food anyway.They rely on breakfast and lunch at school to feed their kids so they can have more money for their habits.I can see one conviction being overlooked but she is obviously a repeat offender.No pity here-I know too many people who try to do everything right and be honest and get screwed for their efforts when they truly need help.The mother of that little girl missing from WV just got arrested for "selling" her food stamps to buy bath salts to snort-$500 meant to feed her SEVEN kids from different Dads instead got sold to get her and her latest sperm donor high.I am out of patience with these users and abusers.

So if you work for a bank, or any other job where you handle money, and need money to feed your family and take it, but you put it back, it's ok?
The logic you presented doesn't work.
She LIED. That was her offense.
Because she LIED, and received the benefits based on that LIE, she STOLE the benefits.
Seems pretty simple to me!
