Automakers Getting Rid Of Spares To Cut Costs, Reduce Weight
Hey buddy, can you spare, a spare? That's what some stranded motorists find themselves asking AAA when they pull over and discover that the spare tire, once standard, has become optional.
Not only should you have a spare, but I prefer a full size spare, not those donut cheapie tires!
It's up to the owner/driver to ensure the vehicle is in good operating condition, and has sufficient resources (fuel, oil, spare tire, etc) to be on the road.
Next thing you know, they'll do redesigns so there's not even SPACE for the spare! More good ole boy BS! Tires are a SAFETY item and there should ALWAYS be a spare, period!

I wonder how much AAA contributed to this decision
It's been an option for years. I didn't think twice about checking the box for a full size spare.

You don't need a spare with runflat tires, and the weight savings gives you better fuel mileage
