Update Snow Hill High School on Hold?????

JOE, I have learned that the Worcester County Commissioners have indicated that they will not support a 2011 start for the Snow Hill High school renovations, despite the dilapidated state of the building. I'm sure that funding will be cited as an issue, but I have learned that the money is there. All the Commissioners need to do is roll over the expiring bond from the Stephen Decatur Middle School renovation to fund the renovation. So, it's not money. It must be will. Clearly, the commissioners believe their is no political reason to proceed.

I ask all residents of Snow Hill to attend the October 4 meeting of the County Commissioners to remind them of their promise. I ask them to personally email and remind each of the commissioners of their commitment to proivde ALL students in Worcester County with an opportunity for a high quality education, and that included students who live in Snow Hill. I ask all residents of Snow Hill and Worcester County to send the very clear message to our commissioners that you care enough about our children's education to assure that all children in Worcester County have a safe, comfortable and technologically capable facility in which to learn.

There is a meeting Monday, October 3 at 6:00 at SHHS with Commissioner Shockley if you can attend..I say we will the auditorium Monday night and let him know that it is UNACCEPTABLE and those of you that can attend the Commissioners Meeting on Tuesday...PLEASE ATTEND..thats actually when they are going to vote to postphone SH yet again. We need our voice to be heard!

They have been talking about a new school since 2002 and yet still it hasn't happened and yet they say they don't have any money and they build for decatur and pocomoke. Sounds like to me $$$ Lined their pockets and got them Political votes.

Time to vote Virgil Shockley out as County Commissioner and get someone smart in there that really cares about the people of Snow Hill and is willing to stand up and be heard as a Commissioner. DO THE RIGHT THING AND BUILD THE SNOW HILL HIGH SCHOOL. We want what others got. A Blue Ribbon School time and time again. Something is going on right there. The kids in the school deserve better.

It took them 7 years to get around to renovating the Pocomoke High School after announcing that they would. Good luck seeing that done in the next decade.

Once you start building a new school you just can't stop it. You have to finish it to the end. Do tell where all that money is going to come from. We are all hurting and living paycheck to paycheck right now.

The big plan is to close SHHS and move those students to the Worcester Technical High School. Why spend the money renovating a high school for a small student population when you can just send them to the much newer and larger WTHS (there are rooms in that bldg that are not even being used!)

I heard the money is there to build the new school. As far as moving them to the new WTHS.. BS!!!!! You want to move the Snow Hill kids and leave everyone else where they have been for years..Yeah Right!!! Shove that mess where the sun dont shine!!!..Snow Hill is a proud community and the parents support their kids. A Blue Ribbon school and a great place to take your kid where they can get an education. Get off ur AZZ Commissioners and do the right thing!!

We will always come first here up north. Look at the tax base. The commissioners know where their bread is buttered. If we need something we get it, even if we pay for it ourselves. Seen our new field house yet? BTW, its not sticks and stones that make a Blue Ribbon School.

Why don't they look into doing something for Snow Hill middle school where water comes through the ceiling and runs down the walls of the classrooms. Sure that the kids and teachers are sitting in mold filled rooms everyday and painting over this stuff as they have done does not help.
