Teachers Receive No Pay Increase For Third Consecutive Year
Educators now contribute 7 percent of their annual salaries to pension plans (Sept. 9, 2011) During the 2011-2012 school year, Worcester County Public Schools will offer students one of the best educations in the state, but will not offer teachers a pay raise for the third year in a row.
It is a shame that teachers have not received a raise ,but it is also a shame that I have not received a raise in FOUR years .In the economy in the state it is we all have to bite the bullet a little and be thankful to that we have jobs . Every Friday I cringe when my supervisor shows up on the job because i wonder is today the day i join the ranks of the unemployed.By the way seven percent for YOUR pension is a paltry sum compared to others .Suck it up !!
Raise? They should be thankful they have a job. I've not had a pay raise in 3-4 years and I had a decrease in my pay over the last year or so. Suck it up and stop whining. Life is difficult these days, so be thankful of what you do have.
The sheriffs office under the leadership of Mason and Smack hired six new employees, promoted another six for helping with the election. Salary and promotions totaled approximatey 400,000 dollars. Also I still see out of county use of police vehicle as far Delmar. Maybe this is part of the reason no in the county got raises?
I am a nurse and I work: long hours, weekends, holidays, summers, short staffed etc. I have not received a raise in 4 years. I am thankful to have a job though. I am not whining.....Just sayin to you teachers, we all have it tough, but you do have a decent job with decent hours. People are not sympathetic.
I'm sorry, but did TEACHERS write this article? Did they even interview a teacher for this article???? No! So stop blaming us!! I AM lucky I have a job, and I'm NOT crying about it!!!
Join the club!!! Many haven't gotten raises since 2008. Teachers act like they are the only ones affected by the economic situation in this country. For those that have jobs, be thankful. Is it fair that you haven't gotten raises? No but many are in the same boat.
The public forgets that the classified employees DON'T make the big salaries! The women that serve your child lunch, assistants that help your child in the classroom, the custodians that clean up after your child....don't make a living wage. Most of those workers are working at the poverty level or below.
As a former educator on the lower shore, I cannot believe the Gaul that is being displayed by local teachers in regards to their salaries. Teachers, if you are reading this, you can certainly resign and move to a better paying job - nobody is stopping you. I for one cannot imagine going job hunting in this economy, and all of you whining about not getting a pay raise better take a real good look at the state of affairs in MD as well as neighboring states. Times are tough on everyone, but just because you are a teacher, you get no special privileges. I know, because I taught for over 25 years here in Maryland. Stop waiting around for someone to hear you complain. Get a second job (like the rest of the world) or quit the one you have and move on, but please save the rest of us your bellyaching!

Guess what? Neither did anyone else!!! WTH makes teachers think they are any different??
Since when do they deserve automatic pay raises?
