Statement from Superintendent of Schools Dr. John E. Fredericksen On The Search For Alice Davis, Parkside High School English Teacher

Ever since we were informed by the Sheriff’s Office on Monday that a missing person investigation was under way for Alice Davis, a Parkside High School English teacher, we have kept her in our thoughts and prayers and supported the investigation in any way that we could. Mrs. Davis, 55, teaches senior Advanced Placement English and is the English Department chair at Parkside. She has been a good and faithful employee of Wicomico County Public Schools since 1983.

When she did not report for work Tuesday morning we knew there was every reason to be concerned for her safety. We continue to hope, along with the Sheriff’s Office and the community, that she can be found safely and can return to her classroom.

A crisis support team from the school district was at the school today to assist any staff members or students in need. The school hosted an early morning prayer vigil in its auditorium, prior to the start of the school day, at which colleagues, students and graduates gathered to join in prayers for the safe return of Mrs. Davis. Trees and pillars outside the school are wrapped in green and white ribbon (Parkside school colors), and many people are wearing green and white ribbons to show their hopes for the safety of Mrs. Davis. A very qualified substitute teacher is working with Mrs. Davis’ classes, with support from her colleagues.

We continue to hope for the safe return of Mrs. Davis to her home and to Parkside High School, and we urge the community to assist the Sheriff’s Office, the Wicomico Bureau of Investigation (WBI), and other investigating agencies in any way possible. Anyone with information is asked to call the WBI at 410-548-4898.
