3-Year-Old's Murder May Have Been Revenge Attack

(AP)

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - A man who opened fire on a house, killing a 3-year-old girl and gravely wounding a pregnant woman and her toddler, was probably seeking revenge against a Good Samaritan who had thwarted an earlier assault, police said.

Piecing together witness accounts, police believe that a man living at the house saw the gunman assaulting another woman Monday and got involved, allowing the unidentified woman to escape, said San Bernardino police Lt. Gwendolyn Waters.

I grew up (many, many years ago) less than 2 miles from where that shooting occurred. In the 50s & 60s it was a middle class, white picket fence, apple pie type of neighborhood. Not any more. The gang bangers started moving in during the 70s and it has turned into a ghetto cesspool today. It's sad to watch your former hometown be destroyed.
