The number of people killed in car crashes more than doubled this Fourth of July weekend in Virginia compared to that of last year, officials say.
Preliminary reports show that 13 people died in 11 different crashes over the holiday weekend, which began just after midnight on Friday, July 1 and ended at midnight on Monday, July 4.
Last year, six people were killed in the same time period.
Alcohol was involved in four of the fatal crashes and at least five of the victims were not wearing seatbelts, Virginia State Police say.
"To see traffic deaths spike so significantly from one year to the next, with alcohol and lack of seat belt usage as common factors, is extremely alarming," says Steven Flaherty, Virginia State Police superintendent.

4 of the 11 accidents involved alcohol. Well then, how can we attack the civil liberties of people who have traffic accidents but who do NOT drink alcohol?
Somehow some way we will find a way. We should randomly read their minds or something.
