Thefts From Motor Vehicles

The Summer season in Salisbury has traditionally shown an increase in crime throughout the city, particularly thefts from motor vehicles. During this summer we have found that many vehicles are parked and left unsecured with their windows down and tops down- if the vehicle is a convertible. These vehicles become easy prey if property is left in plain view. Residents are reminded to secure the vehicles, even if left only for a short time. Drivers are advised to secure and store all property out of sight, preferably in the trunk, or better-out of the vehicle. Drivers are also reminded to park in well lighted and populated areas.

Additional tips can be found on the Police Department’s website, http://www.salisburypd.com/. On the lower right side of the page is a link to a crime prevention tips page. On that page there are a number of additional links for personal safety tips.

Any questions can be directed to the Salisbury Police Department Community Affairs Division at 410-548-3165.
