Commerce Department to Hold Media Availability to Discuss Report Aimed at Strengthening Cybersecurity Protections for Businesses Online

WASHINGTON – Tomorrow, Administration officials will host a press conference call at 11:45 AM EDT to discuss a report released by the Commerce Department’s Internet Policy Task Force that proposes a new policy framework to strengthen cybersecurity protections for businesses online that fall outside of the critical infrastructure sector.  U.S. Commerce Secretary Gary Locke, along with White House Cybersecurity Coordinator Howard Schmidt, Internet Policy Task Force Chair Cameron Kerry and Internet Policy Advisor of the National Institute of Standards and Technology Ari Schwartz, will join the call to outline the strategy and key components of the report, as well as answer reporters’ questions. 

The Department of Commerce will issue an embargoed copy of the report at 10:30 a.m. EDT.
