Waves

Like a lot of people, I've been watching the news about the earthquake and resultant tsunami that has hit Japan hard.  Hawaii should get the first of the wave in the next few minutes.  I hope that casualties are minimized by good planning and rapid action.
One thing that disturbs me about the news coverage is the map of the west coast of the U.S. and the news of the alert that those states have enacted.  The tv map shows only the west coast of the U.S. as being affected, and the reporters only talk about that area, along with Hawaii.  The red zone on the map stops at just south of San Diego, as if the tsunami won't hit Mexico or the rest of Central and South America.  This seems odd to me.  What gives with this limited view of the Western Hemisphere?  Do the networks think we are the only country in it?

WHO cares about another country? We need to consider our OWN people first, then we concern ourselves with others.

Anon 8:39 AM is absolutely right! We need to start looking out for #1 a little more than we do for everybody else! We're having enough fiscal issues, but now that Japan is whacked with an Earthquake and Tsunami we'll end up sending them financial support and services that should be staying on U.S. soil. I think it is great to be good stewards of the world, but we can't forget about the homeland in doing so.

Besides, half the the Mexican population resides in the U.S. anyway! So technically we are protecting the majority of Mexicans!

I was switching around on the news networks this morning and saw a geologist explaining the earthquake and tsunmai on CNN. Went to Fox news and GERALDO RIVERA was doing the same thing...it was rather insulting to me that HE was giving us a science and physics lecture. Thats the BEST Fox could do??? I can see him giving us a lecture on how to trim a mustache, or how to engage in promiscuious sex (and name names, like he loves to do), but PHYSICS??? come on, man....
