Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. : An Ipad For Every Student

Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-Ill.) said he stood-by a proposal he made last week that could result in the federal government providing an Ipad for every student in the nation, despite a barrage of criticism he has suffered from the media in recent days.

"Let me be clear about a few things," Jackson said, brandishing both an Apple Ipad and an Amazon Kindle on the House floor. "These devices are revolutionizing our country-- and they will fundamentally alter how we will educate our children."

Jackson said he had been skewered on conservative radio and in the blogosphere and was called "misleading" and “malicious” names.

"Now, because I've suggested this idea, I've been called a communist and a socialist and any number of another things,” Jackson said.

Jackson is promoting his idea to amend the Constitution so that it guarantees every American the right to an equal education. Under that amendment Congress would be given discretion to implement the educational reforms which, Jackson said, may lead to an Ipad, Kindle, or Nook for every schoolchild.

You beat me to it. I wonder how much of his money he will put towards this stupid idea. I think he sits around thinking of dumb ideas just to get his name in the headlines.

Oh, so now the esteemed "reverend" is an educator! It was a "chicken in every pot" back in the 20's; now it's an I-Pod in every hand. How magnanimous Rev. Jesse is with everyone else's money.

Why stop at an IPAD? Why not a 24/7 tutor, a personal secretary to type all of their homework, office space, and a car to drive to school???

The pawn shops will be full of them as soon as some of these welfare parents realize they need a hit of crack.

2:36 hit the nail on the head....60-70% of the kids cand read or write above the 5th grade level and we're going to give them an I-Pad?? And where does the money come from? He must have just taken a HUGE bribe. I'd blame it on his IQ, but I already consider him to be one dumb waste of flesh. He's in the beginning throes of Alzheimers....

waste of time
just like libraries
no one reads
they borrow DVDs or use the internet
libraries are just rest stops and hang outs for the homeless

Libraries are not a waste of time, however your post is.
