Libya Threatens Retaliation As U.S. Seeks UN Resolution Authorizing Strikes

Libya's defense ministry warned Thursday that any military action against the African nation resulting from a possible U.N. Security Council resolution authorizing airstrikes and other measures will be met with retaliatory strikes on air and sea traffic in the Mediterranean region.

Reuters reported that a statement by the regime of Muammar al-Qaddafi broadcast on Libyan television warned that "the Mediterranean basin will face danger not just in the short-term, but also in the long term."

Why is this Administration getting involved militarily and potentially creating a 3rd warfront to maintain? The rebel uprising in Libya is not a spontaneous incident. Those pickup mounted machine guns you see weren't stored in backyard tents for a rainy day. Someone is seriously funding this and other rebellions taking place in the middle east. This is not something we should be dragged into by ego because we will live to regret it.

Maybe we aren't displaying enough strength and leadership and maybe the World sees us as party, golf, and vacation people. Dropping a bomb won't change that.

Now is not the time to be choosing sides over there. A month ago, maybe, but it's too late for thousands of rebels now ....
