Matt Maciarello Sworn In As Wicomico States Attorney

In a informal public ceremony States Attorney Matt Maciarello was sworn in yesterday. The official swearing in was held earlier yesterday morning at the States Attorney's Office.

Matt held a moment of silence for Sam Vincent and then spent some time thanking Davis Ruark for his service of more than 20+ years as States Attorney. He thanked his supporters and Family and today Wicomico County is under new leadership.

While I witnessed many comments on the immediate  changes Mr. Maciarello made yesterday when he was sworn in, this is now his Office and he is going to make sure things run his way from here on out.

While I too was a bit surprised at the hiring of Joel Todd, it makes a lot of sense. Many of the attorneys in that office are young and lack experience. It's important to have WISDOM, much of which disappeared when Sam Vincent passed away. I truly believe Joel will be that wisdom and help guide many in the right direction. Some might claim bad habits will follow instead, I don't believe that to be true. Joel is now working for someone else and if there's any sign of such he will be terminated. Matt is a confident leader and he has a goal and vision.

Change, (in many cases) is hard to accept. Give Matt time and I'm sure you'll see where he's headed.

I have been a big supporter of Matt, but I can not get over him hiring Joel Todd. To say the least, I am completely dumbfounded over the whole decision. I am sorry but Joel's TRUE colors came out during his campaigning against Beau. He played dirty politics. His behavior was exactly what gives politics a BAD name. Joel Todd will have to prove himself to a LOT of Wicomico citizens that he has turned a new leaf. BUT the old saying goes.... a leopard never changes it's spots!!!!! Now.... how about Richard Catlin???? If your are cleaning house.....

On yesterday's post about the firing of Liz Ireland someone Anonymously stated that Ruark did not request the undated resignation of anyone supporting Sam was untrue. Well all I have to say about that is, if it's a lie, the Daily Times told it because it most certainly was printed in an article about Ruark and Sam Vincent just days prior to Sam's untimely demise.
Mr/Ms Anonymous should know what they are talking about before they let their fat little fingers fly across a keyboard.

I can't get over his firing Liz Ireland. Talk about experience and wisdom.

I also do not understand hiring Joel Todd. Really bad decision in my opinion.

Well Informed @ 10:27, you are not informed. I work in the WCSAO, and Davis only asked for the resignation of those wishing to run for elected office, not those who were supporting them. I openly supported Sam, and I wasn't asked to turn in my resignation. Follow your own advice, and know what you're talking about before you let your fat little fingers do your talking.

At the end of the day its Matts office and he can do what he wants. Sometimes I have found its not so much what you do but instead how you do it that matters most.

Rank amateur fires experienced veteran in the officee. Brings in the loser from another county. Why not appoint Davis so that when you quit he can have his job back.
Nice job there Matt.

Matt is no one's fool. He has chosen seasoned veterans that will be assigned to their areas of strength.

I'm sure he knew that hiring Joel Todd and getting rid of some others would bring comments - but he is using the funds he has to get the best legals minds he can. That is his right = just as getting rid of them if they don't work out is his right.

We're not in Kansas anymore - give Matt the chance to shape a new, more efficient, get-the-job done office. More criminals being prosecuted equals less crime. Who isn't for that????

What?

More criminals being prosecuted equals less crime.
That would be a start. Next is getting judges to convict and punish offenders.
