U.S. Rep. John Conyers, D-Detroit, has called his son's use of his congressional vehicle over the Thanksgiving holiday "inappropriate" after the SUV was broken into and items were stolen.
The longtime congressman released the statement from Washington after news broke of his son, John Conyers III, filing a police report early Thanksgiving morning that the 2010 Cadillac Escalade registered to his dad's Detroit office had two laptops and $27,500 worth of concert tickets stolen from it. The SUV was parked at the corner of Brush and Congress.
"I am sorry it happened and will make sure that it does not happen again," Conyers said in a statement. "I will review the full circumstances of the use of this vehicle and make restitution to the Treasury for any non-official use."
A phone call to Conyers III was not returned.
Conyers, 81, who is the House Judiciary Committee chairman, did not address why his son was driving the vehicle or whether he was in town when the break-in occurred while the car was parked.

we all do it. not just the dirty dems. but i agree with your 'they must be removed'! :)
Any other federal employee caught doing this would be subject to termination. Conyers KNEW his son was violating the law, but did it anyway. PUBLIC MASTERS. Now, he wants to make "restitution". Wouldn't it be nice if the rest of the serfs, after getting caught in a criminal act, would just be able to pay "restitution" and forget about further legal troubles? THIS is how far above us these princes feel they are....it doesn't even embarrass them or cause them any second thoughts...like I've said before --- EVERY single one of them, including the newly elected batch of thieves, are crooks and elites who absolutely believe they are smarter and better than "we, the people". Their actions prove it every day.

federal employees would be terminated for use of a federally owned vehicle for personal use, or of having a non-federal employee in the vehicle, much less driving it. Congressman should be IMMEDIATELY replaced and also make complete restitution, son should be charged for theft of government property.
Should be a gas when the people with stolen tickets (they are numbered, after all) show up at the concert. Will they have a police bus on hand?
