Woman Swings Baby Carrier With Infant In It At Officers

NEW HARTFORD — A woman accused of shoplifting at Walmart swung a baby carrier with a 3-week-old infant in it at loss prevention officers when they tried to apprehend her, New Hartford police said.

Billie L. Goode, 28, along with Tayonda Durham, 25, and Harlyn D. McBean, 29, all of Syracuse, first tried to leave the Commercial Drive store Wednesday with more than $1,100 in merchandise, police said.

When loss prevention officers tried to detain the suspects, Goode repeatedly swung a baby-carrier — with her daughter still in it — at an officer, police said.

Durham then used pepper spray against the officer and also sprayed bystanders, police said.

The three suspects were able to escape in McBean’s vehicle, but loss prevention officers were able to get the license plate and passed it along to police.

State troopers on the Thruway saw the vehicle near Syracuse and subsequently detained all three suspects until New Hartford police were able take them into custody, police said.

I guess she ain't gonne "be wif her baaabies" much longer...One can hear her pleading with the judge not to jail her, because "her babies be needin' her", but when you use your "baaaabies" as clubs while you commit crimes, well, I hope the judge recognizes the twisted logic of THAT argument....give her 5-10, with no parole...

I disagree with you.
I think they should find out what is wrong with her ,she does have a problem.
Yet again it may just be stress from not having a job or just the economy has got her down .
Hell she was shop lifting and probably because she needed something, you know like food or everyday needs.
Hell with people like you everyone would be doing 5 to 10 years.
I dont want to support her or her babies in prison.
Lets get americans jobs.
Please dont tell me she wouldnt work if she had a job. But if she is one of those then jail her and let her do public service for free.

What, no conspiracy charges? No assault charges?

There were THREE of them together! This was not a single person down on her luck and no money and a hungry baby. This was THREE do-nothings that went out to steal whatever they could! Their not going to repent. I hear them in court every day crying about how they don't have anything LIKE A JOB and they live with their grandmother and last worked two years ago if at all!

1:07 the best thing we can do is keep people like you off a jury. Take you feel good attitude down to the ghetto where you can do some good.

1:07...What I think is this --- it's people like you who want to "find out what's wrong with her" that are the problem....did you read the story? $1100 worth of merchandise??!! THAT ain't a basket of food, my friend. I'll be willing to bet she carried that baby in there for cover (a mother is less likey to be looked at for crime). Down and out? I can forgive stealing food. It ain't easy out here...but $1100 worth of stuff....put a bandage on that bleeding heart and stop finding "reasons" for criminal behavior. Maybe the guy who did the home invasion on Nanticoke was "feeling a little down" about not having a real job....maybe he'll be at YOUR house tonight...just give him a hug, some milk and cookies, and all your valuables....it ain't his fault he's a thug...it OUR fault for not supporting him in his time of need...
