Dear Mr. President

Dear Mr. President,

Please find below my suggestion for fixing America 's economy. Instead of giving billions of dollars to companies that will squander the money on lavish parties and unearned bonuses, use the following plan.

You can call it the "Patriotic Retirement Plan":There are about 40 million people over 50 in the work force. Pay them $1 million apiece severance for early retirement with the following stipulations:

1) They MUST retire. Forty million job openings - Unemployment fixed.

2) They MUST buy a new AMERICAN Car. Forty million cars ordered - Auto Industry fixed.

3) They MUST either buy a house or pay off their mortgage - Housing Crisis fixed. It can't get any easier than that!!P.S. If more money is needed, have all members in Congress pay their taxes...Mr. President, while you're at it, make Congress retire on Social Security and Medicare.

I'll bet both programs would be fixed pronto!

The post actually mimics what I have said before. Instead of bank bailouts, every tax payer should have received "x" amount of dollars in the form of a cd at the banks in need. This would have put money into the banks over a fixed amount of time and jump started long-term savings for Americans who have lived check to check.

One thing though: "...make congress retire...."
Is anyone forced to retire on SS and medicare? These are supposed to be safety nets, not retirement plans. But the same old folks who flock to the Rep. party screaming "socialist" are the same ones who planned to live off these social systems.

9:30, folks such as yourself are so vehemently anti-Obama, you can't even read/see straight. I said nothing of the author being Rep but rather eluded to many of the retirees that reside firmly in the conservative camp. No wonder you don't support Obama; you probly believe every half-truth you see in print and take form opinions prior to researching facts. It's the typical idealouge's playbook

If I wanted to destroy this country I would do exactly what Obama has done!

I'm not over 50. Where's my cut?

As it is, the bailout is costing each $80,000. In return, I haven't seen a thing. But I still have to pay back all of that money somehow.

I think that giving out $10k per taxpayer would have been a much better bailout. America would have paid off a lot of debt, allowing them to buy again. And paying back the debt money would have helped the banks cover their losses on mortgages. For a lot of people, it could have meant buying a home, a car, or expensive appliances.

10:38 The banks don't want you to pay off debt. Just stay mired in life long servitude paying fees and interest.
