GOVERNOR O’MALLEY JOINS WITH WEST BALTIMORE COMMUNITIES TO BEGIN DEMOLITION OF “HIGHWAY TO NOWHERE”

Barrier Removed; Communities Reunited As Part of Parking Expansion at West Baltimore MARC Station

Please note this event originally scheduled for 10:00 a.m., is now scheduled for 9:30 a.m.

BALTIMORE, MD
– Governor Martin O’Malley will join Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, local leaders and members of communities throughout West Baltimore to begin demolition of a portion of Baltimore’s infamous “Highway to Nowhere.” The demolition of a roughly one-quarter-mile unused section of US 40 will allow for the expansion and enhancement of the West Baltimore MARC Station parking area located between Franklin and Mulberry Streets. This is the first step in rebuilding and “greening” the areas surrounding the West Baltimore MARC Station, and reunite the communities of West Baltimore for the first time in nearly 40 years.
