Millsboro Man Held On Kidnapping/Assault Charges

Lewes-Delaware State Police early Saturday morning investigated a kidnapping/assault which occurred on Beaver Dam Road Lewes around 12:17 a.m. September 18, 2010.

Delaware State Police learned that the 30 year old victim and a former acquaintance Robert A. Farris-37 of Millsboro where together at a Millsboro establishment shortly before midnight. During their meeting Farris became angered over perceived advances from another man toward the victim.

The victim and Farris left the Millsboro establishment and began walking to the victim’s car when she decided to call for a taxi. Farris then grabbed the victim by the hair and forced her into her vehicle. The victim fearing for her safety drove away with Farris who was seating in the passenger seat yelling profanities at her.

When the victim turned off of SR 23 and onto SR 5, Farris began striking the victim with his hands about the victim’s head and body. At one point Farris grabbed the victim around the neck and began to chock her and continued pulling her hair.

The victim eventually was able to pull to the side of the roadway and flee from Farris. The victim flagged down a passing motorist who called 911.

Delaware State Police Saturday arrested Farris on the above listed charges and he was subsequently remanded to Sussex Correctional Institute in on $44,000 secured bond.
