Busch Gardens Plans 2 New Rides

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (AP) - Busch Gardens amusement park is planning to build two new rides.

Park officials say a nearly 250-foot drop ride called Mach Tower will open in the park's Germany section in 2011. It features 30 seats mounted on a ring that rotates as it ascends the tower. It will reach speeds of 60 mph as it drops back down.

Park officials also said on the Busch Gardens' Web site that the park plans a new roller coaster to replace its retired Big Bad Wolf, but few details were released Saturday other than a planned opening in 2012 of a "multi-launch roller coaster."

Water Country will add a 75-foot-tall slide attraction called Vanish Point. It will have four slides descending 300 feet from one tower, and you'll be propelled by your own body, not a mat.
