Governor to honor Maryland Green Schools and promote environmental education
ANNAPOLIS, MD – Governor Martin O’Malley will join students, teachers and administrators from nearly 100 schools and education centers to celebrate improvements in Maryland’s environmental education programs through the Partnership for Children in Nature. Governor O’Malley will address students and educators from Maryland’s Green Schools program, a nationally-recognized program to enhance students’ environmental literacy.
The Partnership for Children in Nature and the Maryland Green Schools program were launched by Governor O’Malley to ensure all Maryland young people have the opportunity to learn about their environment, connect with their natural world and grow to become responsible stewards.
The Maryland Green School program is a member of Governor O’Malley’s Partnership for Children in Nature. The Governor will also be joined by representatives from the Maryland Association for Environmental and Outdoor Education (MAEOE), the Maryland No Child Left Inside Coalition, the Chesapeake Bay Trust, and others. The Governor will present MAEOE with a Smart, Green & Growing Award.

CORRECTION - The Maryland Association for Environmental and Outdoor Education MAEOE - www.maeoe.org - is the umbrella program for the MD Green Schools Program and the host of the event. The governor and partners for Children in Nature were guests at the event.

Another correction - The Maryland Green Schools Program was developed, has been and continues to be administered by The Maryland Association for Environmental and Outdoor Education (MAEOE) since 1999.
