Magnolia Man Arrested For Leading Troopers On A High Speed Chase

Delaware State Police have arrested a Magnolia man after he led a trooper on a high speed chase.

The incident started when a trooper observed a white Mazda 3 traveling south on SR 1 east of Milton traveling at a high rate of speed. The trooper attempted to stop the vehicle however the operator refused. The Mazda proceeded south on SR 1 turning onto Devon Road and making its way to Point Road and CR 265 before coming back out onto SR 1. The Mazda continued south on SR 1 towards the Nassau Bridge. The vehicle turned onto Janice Road and drove in the development of Whispering Pines before getting stopped by a second trooper on Janice Road at SR 1 as he attempted to get back on the highway.

The driver was identified as Melvin and he was charged with Failing to Stop of a Police Officer, Aggressive Driving and numerous other traffic charges. He was arraigned at J P Court 2 and was released pending an appearance in the Court of Common Pleas in and for Sussex County.
