TROOPERS CHARGE MAN WITH POSSESSION WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE MARIJUANA

On Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at 8:30 pm, A Trooper from the Salisbury Barrack of the Maryland State Police stopped a blue 2001 Mercury Sable for a traffic violation in the 300 block of Chestnut Way in Salisbury Wicomico County Maryland. While contacting the driver of the vehicle, the Trooper was able to locate a small amount of marihuana on the driver’s person. The Trooper took the driver into custody and performed a search of the vehicle incident to a lawful arrest. Inside of the vehicle the Trooper located more than 1 pound of marihuana, digital scales, several empty plastic baggies, and more than 100 dollars in cash. All of these items, including the Mercury Sable, were seized and transported to the Salisbury Barrack. Troopers charged Evan Christopher Ward, 19, of Salisbury with possession of marihuana with the intent to distribute, possession of CDS manufacturing equipment, possession of marihuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Ward was turned over to a District Court Commissioner pending a hearing.
