ONE REASON WHY SALISBURY IS GOING BROKE

Based on official data, it looks like the mayor’s main assistants are currently paid these amounts:

$95,600 – City Administrator (John Pick)
$59,000 – Assistant Administrator (Lore Chambers)

Holy potholes, this pair must be costing the City about 200K per year in salary and related things.

Ms. Chamber’s position was reclassified last year, for a $8,326 pay raise. And this year Jim Ireton wants to increase her pay by almost $10,000.

whatever happen to 3% like the rest of us who are LUCKY enough to get raises in the private sector? how does a government assistant get 15 to 18%?

what do we need a Mayor for then?

I was a FF or PO I be pissed OFF! Glad I quit there years ago...

Jim Ireton is another brain dead Baliberal moron who fooled all of us who elected him. Jim, what happen to your promise of cleaning up the city and doing away with Pick, Chambers and the rest of the Barrie Tilghman camp?

Isn't Ireton naming a road after Barrie Tilghman? WTF! Is he stupid or what?

Anonymous said...

10:35 --

How about calling it the "Tilghman Turnpike" (also known as the "road to hell").

Well, you gotta admit it beats "Barrie Boulevard."

Just as it was under Barrie Tilghman, we are fortunate that Debbie Campbell and Terry Cohen are on the Council to hold things in check from the likes of Jim-beau and his fellow Obama acolytes.

Do you people think that these people should work for nothing?

Get real, thay are running a city.

Sadly disappointed in this man. No better than Louise Smith.

Been fooled twice now. :-(

It his record from the Council is any indication, Ireton will resign before the year's end.

Nobody, except you, has suggested that "these people should work for nothing".

Look you idiot, do you really think these two imbeciles are running the city? If anything they are running it into the ground.

If you think this city needs a strong mayor and 2 overpaid administrators you have lost your mind. By the way Pick and Chambers don't even live in the city and pay taxes. There is no way they should be rewarded for their lack of work.

OH NO! People make more money than me … it’s not fair, they don’t do any work, they suck at their jobs, government employees are free loaders, blah blah blah. Call the waaaambulance you bunch of babies. Instead of complaining about how much they get paid why don’t you go get a better job?!

Can you all ever be satisfied with a mayor?

Anonymous said...

like i said above, while the rest of us barely get 3% or IF we get it, these people are getting raises of 15% or greater? that is OBSCENE. where is the money coming from, taxes are down!

It isn't fair that the City Administrator has an assistant and the Mayor does not.

Either the city or the county must go we can't afford both !

It's not insane if you understand that she has not received a raise in several years...so 3%+3%+3%+...you do the math. Learn the entire story before you comment with such ignorance. This is what she's owed. Nobody's doing her a favor.

Unfortunately, it is almost universally true that the one in charge is going to take care of his or her minions. In this case, Ireton works every day with Pick and Chambers, so he is going to "take care of" them. We have all seen how this works in the workplace. Is it right? Of course not.

From what I read and observe, it appears that certain departments seem to be taking the shaft while these administrators are reaping the benefits. I am thinking, for example, of Public Works. Don't they seem to be largely forgotten when it comes to raises and benefits?

Why aren't Neighborhood Compliance code officers subject to the same terms as Public Works? Something smells a little fishy about the whole process. Hopefully, the City Council can see through all of this and make the necessary adjustments.

I would be that many of you have never attended a city council meeting, let alone work in a municipal office setting. You have no idea what it takes to keep a city like Salisbury, like it or not, going. Get involved or get informed.

WTF!! You stupid moron. The real workers in the city haven't been given a raise either so why should this dead beat get rewarded.

These comments were obviously from the same person. Could it be Lore Chambers herself?

My inkling tells me it's Lore herself. Check out the spelling on the second 10:51 AM: "thay"

dats how she be spellin hir werds!

A city tax payer would be appalled by these pay raises in these difficult times. This person is obviously not a tax payer in Salisbury.

One reason the City is broke...the City Attorney and his new house!

Anonymous said...

I was told Lore Chambers has filed a discrimination lawsuit on the city?

Don't forget that his other job is as a public employee.

That's the mindset.

There's a big mindset difference between running a business and having the necessity of MAKING money or going broke...

and being a salaried government employee guaranteed a job, income, benefits and retirement.

That's what was elected.

Anon 12:29: How about giving those who protect and serve what they're owed?

City police officers haven't gotten a pay raise in two or three years. How about giving a break to the people who are required to wear a gun on their hip to keep from getting killed when they go to work? I know a lot of people think guns aren't necessary around here, but there is so much that goes on that the average person will never hear about.

12:29 "It's not insane if you understand that she has not received a raise in several years...so 3%+3%+3%+...you do the math."

How about the rest of the City employees that have had no raise in 4 years? You do the math.

Most private sector jobs are getting no raises. My company of 150 employees have had no raises, and top management people have had pay cuts. Some have had furloughs, and a few people have been laid off.

I've heard other stories similar for other companies.

Anonymous said...

Perhaps if you ran your business better your 150 employees would get raises ... Ireton is running things son

"City police officers haven't gotten a pay raise in two or three years. "

Actually, 2 years ago you got a 12% across the board raise and your starting salary went from $23k to 33k a year in a 2 year span. Yet Public works got nothing in either of those years.
