In so many different cases over the past 6 years, Salisbury News has delivered information usually not seen in the public eye. The Daily Times and the MSM would simply state what THEY THINK is right and or simply provide a sound bite or quotes by politicians and encourage their way of thinking with their own agenda.
Isn't interesting how the Library had to make a move NOW, then all of a sudden they came up with an opportunity for an extension.
Ever since Salisbury News came about, there's been another VOICE, "We The People" have been able to express how WE feel about issues such as the Library and many of these projects were shut down, saving the taxpayers millions of dollars.
I believe WE have been able to clearly voice our opinions, create open debate and there's no question in my mind that our public officials are reading and listening to US for once.
The people have spoken and it was an overwhelming NO to a new Library. Cheers to ALL of you for voicing your opinion. They can make all the excuses in the world as to why they are not moving forward but the steam rolling of citizens has come to a close. No more WWTP type of scams will ever happen again. Not as long as I'm around anyway.

You certainly deserve a pat on the back for your reporting . The library was only one of many . It was about time someone had the ball$ to give the truth as an alternative. However , their are some things that I do disagree with on your agenda.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with your disagreeing with my agenda. That's what Salisbury News is here for.
Look, just because we post it doesn't mean I always agree with it. The idea is to put important news and information in front of you multiple times daily so we can discuss each topic.
Let me give you a perfect example.
Today I received a call from a good friend asking me what I thought about the Supreme Court making such a ruling they will allow indefinate prison time of sex offenders.
Look, I think we'll ALL agree that it wouldn't be such a bad idea the day of sentencing, allowing law enforcement to take a convicted DNA sex offender behing their building and blowing their brains out.
HOWEVER, what's next????????
What other laws will they pass similar in nature?
Does the Supreme Court have the right to imprison someone for longer than their term, I don't think so. We better be very careful out there Folks because while we may be angry at people like Thomas Leggs, we do not have the right to keep him in jail for longer than his sentence. Now, what happens to him AFTER he gets out is a whole different story. But to make emotional decisions off the cuff, that's just wrong.
So see, I don't always agree with everything we post. But we do get the opportunity to express our thoughts and opinions and that's something you don't get in a print newspaper or on television news.
We sure don't need a new Library. Just like we don't need smooth roads and good schools. The guy who said something about Montgomery County types is right. Let them move back there if they want all that stuff.

I'd venture to guess that you and thousands of other eastern shore natives have never left this area, and have no idea what montgomery county even looks like, let along know what a "montgomery county type" would be. do you like it when they categorize locals (like governor schaffer sure did) as "eastern shore types?" I don't suppose you would!
There is nothing wrong with wanting a new library, even if the old one still has a little life left in it, but there is someting wrong with planning and moving forward on a giant venture for which there isn't any money.
The real bozos in this debacle are Ireton and Pollitt -- both should have said "NO" at the get-go, but were afraid of being criticized by some of their followers.
Real leaders they are.
Don't break your arm patting yourself on the back, Joe. This deal was killed by the truth of the economic times and the manipulation of downtown interests. You had very little to do with it.
The simple truth is that economically keeping a lousy library open is more important than building a new library at this point. Perhaps you won't mind if the library is closed more often? We could always just "go to Montgomery County" and use their libraries.
