Golf Tournament To Kickoff National Salvation Army Week

Salisbury Corps to Celebrate with activities May 10 – 16

Salisbury, MD…
The Salisbury Corps of The Salvation Army has announced their annual golf tournament will kickoff the 57th annual National Salvation Army Week, May 10th – May 16th. The purpose of Salvation Army Week is to celebrate, honor and raise awareness about the services and mission of your Salvation Army locally and throughout the United States.

“We are proud to be participating in this national event. We have many exciting plans for the entire week, but we want to announce our golf tournament now as we invite all of our friends in Worcester, Somerset and Wicomico counties to support the tournament,” said Captain Cameron Henderson, Salisbury Corps Officer. “What could be better than spending an afternoon playing golf on a glorious afternoon in May at one of the area’s premier courses? You can pair your love of golf with the benefit of raising funds to support The Salvation Army’s Red Shield youth sports programs.”

“Our golf committee has planned a very special event for Monday afternoon, May 10th at Glen Riddle Golf Club on the Man ‘O War course. Whether you serve as a major sponsor, invest in a tee sign, donate to the tee bag or provide a door prize, we need everyone’s support to make this one of the best tournaments of the season,” Henderson said.

Foursomes start at $800 and include dinner at Ruth’s Chris Steak House, scores of door prizes, silent and live auctions, stuffed tee bag and much more. The tournament grand prize is a Destination Golf Vacation for Four customized for the winning team by Golf Pac Travel. There are many other specialty prizes. Proceeds raised from the tournament will benefit Red Shield sports programs at the four youth clubs – two in Salisbury and one in Crisfield and Pocomoke.

“So many business owners, community leaders and area residents grew up participating in the Red Shield Program. We hope they will all step forward and support National Salvation Army Week and our Tournament,” Henderson said. For more information, call The Salvation Army, 410-749-7771, x105.
