Any that call, tell them, to power down modem, then back up and reboot PC to get back online now. I called about 40 minutes ago and that was advice from Verizon to get reset after system is restored.
They told me that my connection was fully operational & that it must be the modem...I went and bought new modem, hooked it up, & this was the first thing I saw.
We are currently experiencing an outage with our long distance phone service. Unfortunately, this is not an internal issue, and we are working closely with Verizon to resolve it. We hope to have this issue resolved as soon as possible. We will update everyone should any new information come in. We ask that you please refrain from opening trouble tickets regarding this issue.
Thank you for your patience, UMES Information Technology Department
I didn't turn on the computer til about 1pm but mine is work ok so far. Must have gone out earlier. It still goes out ALOT less than Mediacom. That goes out at least once a day.
It is true that Verizon Landline was down earlier today. They(Verizon) had a major piece of equipment malfunction and worked to restore their service. The loss of connection should have effected long distance as well as DSL customers. The nature of the cable route takes it through Chestertown so a wide range of people were affected. It is back up now but will be experiencing some lagging or slow connection speeds because for every modem that lost its connection now has to re-establish it and therefore ties up connection speeds more than usual. Be Patient folks!
Oops I must go apologize to my son! I got on his butt thinking he was knocking wires loose on the router or modem. Today wasn't the first day I have had problems. Since Sunday I have lost connection on and off.
I use to have Verizon DSL and had no problem with the speed. However, I tried to contact customer support for 2 straight WEEKS all hours of the day and night and could NEVER get anyone to answer and I just needed help with outlook express. Three years prior to that I had a problem and finally got someone in India, who spoke broken English and could hear turning pages as he attempted to help. After all this I decided if I couldn't get tech help when I needed it then I didn't need them. Verizon tech support is in India and Phillapines. I immediately called Comcast and their tech support is in Dover or Salisbury and it is no problem to get them and they speak English and are very helpful. It is well worth the difference in price.
My office has both DSL and Comcast so we never saw a problem. Inacom put it in for us. Call them if your business needs Internet and can't afford to be down.

I am on verizon and been on all morning
Verizon claims its customers in the 410 area code that are down. Trust me, I know of enough people out there who do not have access right now.
so, are you calling 12:25 a lier?
Long distance is not working too. Locall calls do.
anonymous 12:34, JR must be back. Do explain to all of us what a "lier" is?????
I am in 410, just came back up.
