Salisbury Fire Department To Conduct “After The Fire” Program This Weekend
Several Salisbury neighborhoods, including the Second Street area and Upland Drive area, have experienced the devastation of fire firsthand in the past few weeks.
The Salisbury Fire Department “After the Fire” Program was created to go back to the neighborhoods recently affected by the tragedy and destruction of fire to help educate and promote fire safety.
The Salisbury Fire Department will be going door to door in each neighborhood, Saturday, January 9th, from 1-3pm. Firefighters will be speaking to residents about fire safety; handing out literature; testing, and when needed, installing smoke detectors. It is the mission of the Salisbury Fire Department to attempt to prevent all fires before they occur, but when we are unable, we will stop, regroup, go to each surrounding home and try to get everyone on track with the basics.
There were not any working smoke detectors to alert the occupants of the Second Street fire, though they were able to escape; it is unknown at this time due to severity of damage if there were functioning smoke detectors in the Upland Drive structure fire. The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office is still conducting investigations into both incidents to determine the cause.
At the time of this press release, a third house fire had occurred in Salisbury, located on Richmond Avenue, and plans are being made for an “After the Fire” program in that neighborhood.
If you or someone you know is in need of a working smoke detector for their home, please contact the Salisbury Fire Department at 410-548-3120. We urge everyone to test their detectors in their home and practice their escape plan with their family.

It's pretty bad when the SFD firefighters have to read this on the internet because only certain people are apparently included in fuctions.
Wouldn't a "Before the Fire" program make more sense?
519 PM I agree with you, but when you have bimbos like Gordo, Hoppes and Bragg running the show they aren't intelligent enough to have a proactive fire prevention program.
Reactive and not Proactive. Its the story of the SFD. They never do anything proactively.
Hoppes finally woke up and decided to do something. He gave the pirate an order to do something, anything to make it look like he was doing something. The paid guys will do this job, because the rest of the department has lost interest. They lost faith in their so called leaders. How can you blame them when they have no advanced notice. I bet you a fat man you wont see Hoppes out there.
This message must have come from the PIO. Guess this is worth 5 hours of overtime. More bullcrap waste.
The firemen dont have any respect for the chief so why should he bother. Hes the chief so he can just order the troops to do something. They dont get any say. The volunteers can tell him to stick it because they dont get paid. I wouldnt want to be where I wasnt wanted would you ?
